Yes, it is what a person does or thinks and the consequences. That's why people go and search for self-help books or DVD or just something to read. Some believe it can help to get such things and some don't. I was recently given the DVD, "THE SECRET," which has great decision making strategies. You've heard of Zig Ziggler and Anthony Robbins, well they help so far, but "THE SECRET," helps with everyday life and how to change it with your thinking, finances, relationships, health, weight, everyday life, and more. Very good DVD and book.

re: Improving Your Decision-Making Skills May Improve Your Quality of Life

Decison making involves more than just processing information, it also considers the consequence of the action not just in the immediate future, but for generations to come. the HEART is the decision center of judgment.

What does this mean?

As all of you reading this might be asking yourselves: "Where's Uncle Russ going with this statement, everyone KNOWS cognitive function resides in the BRAIN?"

In point of salient consideration, or suggestion, you would only be partially correct in the assertion of the brain; for such an answer would remain incomplete.

The HEART (not the muscle keeping your blood flowing & you alive) refers to the ethereal, of that which is not made up of empirically measurable MASS of bone, tissue, cells & all that is known.

I refer to the unknown, & undocumented, sense of thought & processing of information, that cannot be monitored, resulting toward invention, creation, behavior, or decision, & chosen processes.

Such decision making, whether valued toward good or bad, may be hard wired genetically in each of us, but is a net result of that endowed to each human, from his or her Creator, through learned behavior, or knowledge, also acquired.

As Johann von Goethe suggested (as quoted by Albert Einstein): "God May Be Subtle, But Malicious He Is Not."

Why are we here?

I suspect it is to benefit ourselves, & those around us, from bestowed grace to the betterment of all.

Aberration against such a path creates, harm, violence, discord, disease & evil, via free will.

Can proper decisions improve one's health outcomes?

As sure as you are reading this, the answer is YES.

re: Improving Your Decision-Making Skills May Improve Your Quality of Life

Interesting Dr. Mercola. I will agree. I also think the quality of life style influences the decision making. Poor=poor and quality=quality. We have many sorces of information telling us to seek and find. But how do we go about seeking and what do we look for to find. If our psycological profile has been damaged to a point where fear controlls our emotions about making decisions good or bad, can we overcome it if we just decide to change? I think the yo-yo diet as it is called cannot in any way hold a light to the yo-yo decision making-not to mention the yo-yo life style. The only way to drive a nail straight is to hit it squarely on the head, any other off-swing will bend it. I think if we seek to repair first our damaged psycological profile, it will bring a change to both our ability to change our lifestyle and our decision making-if we wish to do so. That is why I do the EFT often, but to be honest, I will have to SEEK a professional to help me through the process to recognize any problembs because like most others that I talk to about various subjects, maybe I can't handle the truth about myself or the damagers of my psycological profile either. Sometimes the guy in the mirror brings up some pretty interesting subjects about self honesty!

re: Improving Your Decision-Making Skills May Improve Your Quality of Life

This post was deleted because it violated our Terms Of Use :
Comment does not pertain to the topic of the article or does not provide value or insight to the discussion.
