The great US American researcher, Royal Raimond Rife (www.rife.org), demonstrated already in the 1920s that germs change from one form into the other if the toxicity of the host organism changes. So the question is not the germ but the toxicity of the host organism. Whenever I visited the US I had a hard time to find something to eat - most food was so poisonous that already reading the ingredients made me sick. Whenever you get any "infection", clean your body by taking a dose (3 tablespoons for an average adult) of castor oil. I works faster than any antibiotic without the side effects of long lasting immune suppression. In case of FED, ask a doctor to inject some 1% local anaestetic (eg Lidocaine) WITHOUT adrenalin into the wound as well. It will heal very quickly. And - if possible, stay away from drugs, medical and recreational.

re: Surprising New Threat to Swimmers is on the Rise

In normal use NSAID do not depress white cell count, steroids do. NSAID reversibly inhibit cyclooxygenase enzyme (except aspirin which irreversibly binds) and thus interfere with proinflammatory prostaglandins. Arachadonic acid is precursor to the entire PGE pathway which is why Dr. Mercola suggests eating proper balance of fats from which arachadonic acid is derived.

Necrotizing faciitis is not caused by NSAIDS though tissue necrosis due to injections of a number of drugs is known. Fasciitis is the selective destruction of the fascia of the muscles, most often due to an exotoxin of certain Streptococcus pyogenes strains. Additionally, part of the destruction, including septic shock, is the product of a hyperimmune response. This is why certain infections are (paradoxically) treated with anti-inflammatory drugs.

for what it's worth
kevin

re: Surprising New Threat to Swimmers is on the Rise

Preventative anti-inflammatories and anti viral botanical sources, like moringa olifera (www.drinklifein.com) also can assist; I've seen the hard evidence and there are over 15,000 Pub Med abstracts out there you can read for yourself on this plant.

re: Surprising New Threat to Swimmers is on the Rise

Lake Dunmore is supposed to be one of the cleaner lakes in VT, and yet there was a polio scare a couple of years ago, making me weary of swimming in any type of body of water.

I guess I'll just stick to sprinklers and the little kiddie pool for the kids this year. I wonder that since Silver Lake doesn't have any houses around it (it's a state park opened to the public), it would be safer.

re: Surprising New Threat to Swimmers is on the Rise

Necrotising fasciitis (flesh-eating disease) can be caused by a number of bacteria that may cause only mild or no symptoms of infection in some people, and cause this flesh-eating phenomenon in rare cases. The strongest risk factor for developing this dreadful type of infection is regular use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like Motrim, Nurofen etc. This disease was almost unheard of before these drugs were available over the counter and its incidence has increased in tandem with increased NSAIDs usage. There have even been cases of spontaneous necrotising fasciitis in the ER following intramuscular administration of these drugs.
Moral = do not take these drugs for pain if you have an infection, and do not swim/fish in high risk areas if you use these drugs regularly.

re: Surprising New Threat to Swimmers is on the Rise

This post was deleted because it violated our Terms Of Use :
Comment does not pertain to the topic of the article or does not provide value or insight to the discussion. When lifes struggles were easier to fix. When honesty was our main teacher and friend. Our minds were clearier and our thoughts purer. When we had hopes for a greater tommarow. We worked and moved to different beats, but yet, we joined as one, for the most part. When we trusted far greater. Where has this all gone?

There are many of us left, but our struggle is mighty great.

Even among the alternative world, there is great disarray between organizations. We need to form as one to really make our dreams of health freedom work. When we fight amongst ourselves, we weaken.
We need to be the opposite of the conventional world.

re: Surprising New Threat to Swimmers is on the Rise

WOW-and i thought the discovery channel was just looking for a name for their series-THE VIOLENT EARTH!

Appears like global warming is going to have more of an impact rather that just-GETTING HOT!

re: Surprising New Threat to Swimmers is on the Rise

You should also be aware that toxic blue-green algae blooms in rivers, lakes and even the ocean pose a serious danger to your dogs. Although not harmful to humans except in tremendously huge doses, the algae will kill dogs within 30 minutes even if they just lick it off their coats. The toxicity of Microcystis aeruginosa is somewhere between cobra venom and pufferfish.

A recent phenomenon once limited to late summer, the blooms are now occurring earlier in the year. They develop as lake and river levels drop due to warming and drought, and are becoming a more frequent occurrence in the United States and Britain.

Do not let your dogs go into stagnant water. The algae has a very bad smell, but you may not notice if you are at the beach.

Half a dozen perfectly healthy dogs have died at the beach and the river in this county over the last 3 years, most of whom belonged to unsuspecting tourists who just let them out for a run. I'm hoping that sharing this knowledge will allow you all to avoid experiencing a similar tragedy.

What kind of world is this where you and your dog can't even go into the water because bacteria or algae might kill you? Bring your dogs to the tunnel, too!
