He is my activist equivalent in the fight for liberalizing copyright laws. I don't want spyware on my computer tracking how and how much I use my media (Sony). I don't want to have to have all the different cables run from my DVD/VCR combo to make sure I don't copy. I have to keep getting up and changing plugs to switch between the two on some of my equipment. This is the 21st Century for goodness sake!! We should be able to just have our cables plugged in and not have to unplug DVD players to watch television or a VHS tape.

In spite of our guilty until proven innocent history, DRM assumes guilt and punishes all. Well, I may be in a minority, but I don't steal, I buy. And what I buy I want to be able to USE. DRM is making that harder and harder to do. Meanwhile the thieves still keep cracking it. So, it is the honest who get punished.

DRM is like gun control. It only keeps the honest honest, while driving them absolutely nuts with compliance issues.

re: If You Hate Digital Rights Management as Much as I Do, Watch This Video

This is what makes Vital Votes so appealing to me, I get to learn things, I'd never normally find out in the course of my daily routines, protocols or information intake.

If the gentleman is talking with Google, no doubt he is cutting edge and invariably correct.
