Lately, he's promoting Zeolyte. Anyone try it? He also wrote an article for a local paper about vitamin D and how it can improve mood esp. in winter. I've noticed it greatly improves mine, and as I understand it now, cod liver oil is one of the few sources of natural vitamin D. Is that right, Dr. Mercola?
Dr. John Briffa, a UK doc has written a few articles about the benefits of sun exposure - including reduced risks of lymphoma, and the dangers of sunscreen in the Epoch Times.

http://en.epochtimes.com/news/7-6-11/56362.html

http://en.epochtimes.com/news/7-6-13/56474.html

http://en.epochtimes.com/news/7-5-24/55679.html

re: Could Sun-Avoidance be the Missing Link Explaining Rampant Autism?

Does anybody know of research correlating the rise in sale worldwide of sun-blocking creams against the rise in skin cancers?
Alternatively, does anyone know of public-domain sources of information that would allow such a study to be made?

I wouldn't be surprised if the rise in cancer *follows* the rise in sale of sun lotions, implying a causal relationship...

Thanks,
Tian

re: Could Sun-Avoidance be the Missing Link Explaining Rampant Autism?

The whole assumption here is that there's something 'wrong' with children diagnosed with autism. What if there isn't? What if this is the way the human race is evolving in reaction to the severe failings of the current model with its emphasis on the material world, greed, and the unthinking destruction of the planet?

Many autistic children have astounding talents and abilities. Just because they can't relate to our dysfunctional societal codes of behaviour or communicate to us in ways we're conditioned to accepting as 'normal' (and therefore 'right'), doesn't mean that there's something 'wrong' with them. It's been my pleasure to know several such children and I think they're quite remarkable. Certainly not 'wrong'.

re: Could Sun-Avoidance be the Missing Link Explaining Rampant Autism?

"

I think one of the previous posters misread Dr Cannell's paper as you can see from the above quote from the Autism Paper what he actually said.

The issue of incidence and skin colour is somewhat confused by political correctness and differences in cultural values. What is acceptable behaviour for some may be regarded as intolerable for others and thus there may be a reluctance to go down the Autism Diagnosis route for some people. This also may be reflected in economic status, as those who are poorer often have less access to medical services and it may result in poorer people (possibly with a higher ratio of those with darker skins) have a later diagnosis and somewhat biased incidence statistics. Certainly in the UK I can find papers showing higher autism incidence in the Asian Community and our Afro Caribbean community have more than their fair share of chronic mental health conditions.

re: Could Sun-Avoidance be the Missing Link Explaining Rampant Autism?

The experts tell you that the sun is bad for you, they suggest you slather yourself with sunscreen. Most Americans are doing just that and skin cancer is still on the rise. A lot of money is available for research into possible causes of autism... and this is a good thing. I am all for research as I believe there is more than one cause, and yes, I believe there MAY be a genetic predisposition to autism. We need to be able to identify who is at risk to environmental triggers.
I would not dispute the fact that a vitamin D deficiency could be a factor in some cases of ASD. However, I was afraid that the avenues of research would be led away from the mercury/vaccine connection, and that is exactly what is happening. We have "too much TV"..."old dads"... "cell phones" and "electrical currants" that are being fingered as possible culprits. I'm not saying that this is impossible. Go ahead and do studies...we need answers, but lets not overlook the obvious... environmental toxins: vaccines, food additives, contaminated air and water, chemical wastes, etc. Special interest groups fought hard to keep the CDC out of controlling where the research money goes. But somehow, most of it seems to be routed everywhere but the obvious.
Again, I would never dispute the Vitamin D connection, but not in my grandson's case. My daughter spent a lot of time in the sun during her pregnancies. My grandson is blond, blue eyed and fair skinned. He plays outside even in the winter. He always turns a little pink at the beginning of summer and gradually turns to a healthy tan. He uses a natural sunscreen only when he is in the sun for prolonged periods. If he is lacking vitamin D, it's because something is obstructing his ability to absorb it. But in HIS case, I am convinced that a flu shot was his toxic tipping point!

re: Could Sun-Avoidance be the Missing Link Explaining Rampant Autism?

From the day of birth an infant is exposed to either contaminated breast milk or synthetic powdered formula. Then, they are bundled up in synthetic fibers and laid on a toxic mattress. Before they are two weeks old they are injected with vaccines. Let's not forget the plastic bottles that feed them their formula or pumped breast milk. Oh and then we jam a plastic pacifier in their mouth before they are even able to smile. Don't even think about letting precious newborn skin be exposed to sunlight! Make sure you get those fluoride drops as soon as those little teeth appear....let's stop the insanity now! I believe all of the above have something to do with rampant autism rates.
