Finally they got tired of the idea and threw the thing away so they never learned how long it would last. It's probably still out there, somewhere, looking exactly the same. As regards nurtitional value, I think that says it all.

re: What's Really in a Twinkie?

I don't understand why it would take mystery ingredients to scare people away from this garbage. That made me suspicious. It is not just junk food as the article says but all big manufacturer processed and produced items. If it has more than three ingredients it is questionable.

We also only eat and use kosher items because the OU traces back every ingredient. I watched a film once on the steps they take. If they can't trace it it doesn't get the seal. There are a few large manufacturers that are never sealed, Kraft being one of them. So there are your salad dressings and other items that line the shelves but also, toothpastes, dish soaps, hand creams, make-ups, and other asundry items that we ingest or seep into our bodys through our skin and also have questionable ingredients.

Lucky for us we have a large garden and live in the south were most of our produce can be grown year round. There are only a few items I purchase frozen and at the chain market, then they all carry that precious kosher lable. A wee bit of insurance that someone who can read that lable checked it for me first. I also have raw dairy access and grass fed meat all local raised and processed.

What of those that do not and those that can only purchase from a large store? Those that can't travel like the elderly or the very young trapped with school lunches, that some of us pay for? My large family eats three meals a day right here at my table. However so many just don't know and then of course there is nothing to do with those that don't care. The consequences of 'our' FDA allowing this to continue is unthinkable.

Thanks for getting the word out.
Ber

re: What's Really in a Twinkie?

A naturopath we listen to on the radio has a saying I like - have seen it elsewhere too.

"If it doesn't rot or sprout - throw it out!"
