There are always those that will take advantage and capitalize on other people that are sick and desperate due to their illnesses. What's worst, are all the false claims and multi-level advertising that turns most people into skeptics and making it very difficult for them to believe something that are real.

I am another proponent of Freelife's Goji juice. I am a Chiropractor and quite skeptical of anything that claims to be a "cure all". When one of my patients got off of his insulin and other diabetes drugs, I had to notice!
I started taking the juice and within 2 weeks my 27 year (surgery induced) knee pain was less than 1/2 of what it had been.
Placebo effect? Perhaps, but who cares!? Results are results! I will continue taking and recommending Goji juice for life.
By the way, does anybody know who sponsors that Canadian news program? Bet you a dime big pharma is behind this piece...

I have chronic fatigue and extreme migraine. I have had these conditions since I was 8 years old. I have tried everything medication, natural therapies, diet, exercise, acupuncture. My Neurologist tells me that there is another new medication on the market but after the reactions I've had to medication, vitamin supplements etc I don't want to go down that path again. I also have an allergy to iron and intolerance to so many things that they suggested putting me in a bubble. I can't even take a panadol without throwing up. I tried Goji Juice thinking that if it does nothing I get my money back. I felt that it was worth the risk after all the money I had spent on trying to find something that works with little benefit. I didn't believe that this juice would do anything for me. I have been taking it for 3 weeks now and everyone who has known me for years and even months can not believe the change. Other people have been asking what I'm doing differently. I can now get through a Personal Training Session without having to sit down. I'm not in pain. I can complete a task eg washing the dishes or sweeping the floor without crashing in a heap during or afterwards. Goji is not a cure and I have never seen any claims made that it is a cure. I have met other people who have various conditions and have had positive results. I am feeling better and the only thing I am doing different is taking the Himalayan Goji Juice. I do not expect to ever be free of chronic fatigue but if I can take something that enables me to live a normal life I'll keep on taking it. The best way of sharing something that works is word of mouth. People tell people of the results they have had and then offer an opportunity to someone else.

Hi Dr Mercola. Have you noticed that the MLM health products are always sourced from the Himalayan Mountains, or deep in the jungle at great risk to life and limb by 120 year old Hunza peasants with perfect eyesight and all their teeth ( but no official birth certificate) who always look old an wrinkly, but are in perfect health?

We fall for that con, but a far worse one, is dosing a cancer patient with poison (chemotherapy) and saying that shrinking their tumour has cured them.

Ask your medico would he take a dose alongside you and check his reaction.

A worse con is dosing your body with poison (chemotherapy) and being lied to about how shrinking a tumour equates to a cure.

In my clinic I tried to talk someone out of the Goji Juice and put them on to something thought would be nutritionally better, after hearing this report. They informed me that since taking Goji for a few months apart from feeling better, their husband's hair was growing back! If that's placebo, its a good one!

I found a health food store that sells PURE Goji juice. No additives of any sort, and for less than the multi-level guys sell it for. We've (my family) have been taking it for a few months. There's no sugar or other fruit juices in it.

Results were instant, we all noticed better levels of sleep and energy right away.

There are always lots of get rich quick schemes of course, I figure either get the berries, or get the real stuff

I actually take this juice daily and have seen amazing results. I have researched much information regarding some of the health related issues I have difficulty with, such as sinusitis and fibroid tumors. I saw an immediate improvement in my sinus condition and rarely need to take antihistimines now. As far as the fibroid tumors go. I've always had painful periods and have had 2 surgerys to have these tumors removed.
After taking this juice, the second month and don't even know when I'm getting my period because i have no pain. My parents who are in their 60's have both had their medications for hypertension reduced. My father's diabetic medication has also been reduced as well and the only changes that they have made have been drinking this juice. ( at first his blood sugars went up slightly then tapered lower. I think it's sad that this reporter focused in on the whole Sloan-Kettering Cancer thing because this juice has made quite a bit of difference in my health as well as the health of my parent's. Some of the life's greatest inventions have been doubted, so say what you want. l still be drinking it.

The integrity of this goji product is obviousy in question.

I would encourage everyone to not be turned off to MLM products due to abuses like these.

The idea behind MLM is to put money behind a high quality product, and not invest in real estate/marketing/retail stores, etc.

I am a "juice" distributor for an acai based product that is extremely high quality. We do not make medical claims. Our researchers have sent the juice out for testing and verified that what is in the berry is indeed in the juice.

They are also coming out with double blind placebo studies to back up what we already believe is true about the product based on testimonials.

It's ok to be skeptical as with anything, but just because it's on a retail store shelf does not mean it has any more validity than something marketed by word of mouth.

I think there is a bit of deceptive advertising with Goji Berries you buy in your local health food stores. The most popular brand I've seen, "Himalania Organic Goji Berries" are in fact, NOT grown in the "Himalayas". I contacted this company 3 times and finally got a confirmation that they are grown somewhere in China.
