Why don't animals need toothpaste?

Really you can hardly find a safe and effective toothpaste at the store.. even Toms of Main has problems...

They use sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) and glycerine..

They claim that it's natural... whatever.. their excuse for using it is a joke check it out... sources are all bought and paid for...

It is well proven that SLS and glycerin are not effective for excellent oral health. SLS destroys the mucus membranes of the mouth... (think cold sores) Glycerin is a non-rinsing film that does not allow natural remineralization of the teeth, which is done by saliva. Alcohol makes your mouth dry so you’re a breeding ground for the Aerobic bacteria. Nearly every ingredient sets you up for problems.. It is a world of difference when you avoid these ingredients... I haven't used them in ten years...

This site will open you to a whole new world of oral health! Look at all the articles down the left side!!! The doctor is very smart but I do not recommend all his products, he includes fluoride in some of his preparations. But, I will tell you that Stabilized Chlorine dioxide is the best!!

Isn't there a study that proved fluoride, naturally occurring as fluorine I think, helps reduces cavities when applied topically? If there weren't any other studies done but the "official story" sold by the ADA then I can see the problem.

As for SLS.... it's derived from the lauric acid of coconut oil. It has potent antimicrobial and antiviral properties. Now, I don't personally know what goes on chemically to form SLS, but as a business owner I'd want something clinically effective, cheap, and easy to whip up in the lab.

Although I doubt I'd find such a think on the shelves the ideal tooth paste to me would include these things: Actual coconut oil since cost wouldn't matter and it would reduce the "need" for triclosan, something that's proven to remineralize enamel topically, either the fluoride salt or something else, or both, something to create a mild foaming action so that the paste can clean everywhere (in cheap toothpastes SLS does this) but w/o a gagging effect, and maybe some essential oils to refresh. Also, this toothpaste would have a label on the box it came with detailing to the consumers other ways they can strengthen their teeth and other bones naturally, and what foods/drinks they can avoid if they wish to prevent staining of their teeth (if promoted also as a tooth 'whitener').

This stuff does not even have to be mentioned on the labels, but it can be up to 15% of the product and it is deadly. What is wrong with this picture.

Why settle for toothpaste or other body care products that have chemicals at all. Many of the chemicals used in body care in the US are already outlawed in Europe but our government continues to protect industry and not our public health. Additionally tests on chemicals always test for single chemical ingredients, never for the synergistic effect that the combination of many different chemicals may have. Bottom line is what you put on your body is also absorbed into your body-so do you really want to use chemically laden body care products.

Learn how to read labels and protect your own health. Don't assume that because something is the health food store that it is chemical free. (on my website http://www.blissfullyorganic.com/ there is a link to my talk about chemicals in body care. In this talk there is a section on deciphering labels). There are more and more companies that are coming out with excellent products that are chemical free and/or organic. The products I use are from One Group of Australia and can be ordered from my website. Also, you can download a free ebook called chemical cocktails about the various chemicals used in body care from my site.

As consumers we need to learn to speak with our pocket books and refuse to purchase body care products made with chemicals. Treat yourself to the best or learn to make your own!
