What evidence does Mercola have that reverse osmosis will remove fluorine molecules from water? The molecules are too small to be filtered. I would love to know the basis for his recommendation.

I thought I might add that some research has revealed that the highest concentration of fluoride in the body is in the pineal gland. This gland is thought to control the person's extrasensory perceptions and intuition. Hmmmmm, what's the best way to control a person besides fear? Make them labile!
Fluoride isn't just a plot to give us cavities and fill the pockets of the dentists, although it was a good ploy. It's mass medication.
Avoid it as much as possible.

Dr. Mercola, please continue with fluoride updates forever until this insane policy of forcing everyone to ingest toxic fluoride compounds is stopped for good! I am tired of hearing about it but I did not choose this battle, and until its over we must fight. Thanks for the continued information.

Absolutely frightening. Years ago the fluoridation of water came for a vote in our area. It was voted down. I was completely unaware of the dangers at that time. I concluded the government would not propose anything to endanger the population. Thank goodness the majority concluded differently. Years later I am overwhelmed by all the misinformation we have been fed... like the food pyramid and the drug industry "PR". I am thankful each time this newsletter comes out.

Amen to that. My Mom was a dental assistant for about 30 years and She was pregnant with a little girl while she was assisting. When she was born her face was deformed! She died when she was about 9 months. We think it was partly from just having the horrible fumes of mercury and everything else in that office. I am not that old but I know a little about fluoride. Almost every time I went to the dentist I would Get horrible headaches. I started using herbal tooth past and mouth wash and My teeth are just as healthy, probably more so than before. Our family has never done the fluoride thing. We always thought it was toxic and this confirms that it is. It's horrible how some people will believe such things!

Please note this: Harrison, Arkansas was one of the first water districts in the US to --refuse to add fluoride-- to the public water supply, back in 2003. Their contention was that it was "WAY too expensive to maintain the equipment necessary to process this caustic additive." ..Yes, they were innundated with e'mails. It's time we informed other Water Boards likewise. This is the right and 'moral' thing to do.

OK I know the dangers of fluoride and do not consume it other tahn in my drinking water. I have a PUR faucet filter, which filters out the chlorine, lead, and other contaminents (or so they say). I decided against reverse osmosis becuase although it filters flouride, it filters everything as well; thus your left with pure distilled water. But somehow I don't think that water in it's natural state is 100% pure. In nature, water contains various elements. Don't get me wrong, I know our drinking water sucks, but I see us as being in a Catch 22 because if we start tampering with our water supply, we further perpetuate the very thing we're trying to avoid; pure drinking water.

Am I wrong on this?

I have just recently become aware of the dangers of flouride. When my kids were smaller, the dentist would have our water tested (I have always been on well water) to see the flouride content and most often, we had enough natural flouride in the water that the kids did not need supplements. Only one place was low enough for supplements, but even when I had them, I rarely remembered to have them take them. So I'm wondering about these areas with natural flouride in the water. Should it also be filtered out or is it okay?

Of course flouride in high doses isn't good or safe for anyone...but is anyone taking into account the other ingredients listed on the tube of toothpaste that may account for some of these side effects. For example: Propylene Glycol and Sodium Lauryl (Laureth) Sulfate. These ingredients are also found in most products, besides toothpaste and can cause all of these issues and more!!

I think it's time we start looking at what the FDA deems "safe" for us to use eveyday!

Fluoride may be harmful. But, to source your criticism from regulatory fascists like Ralph Nader, discredits the message. Also, like many propoganda films, this one used guilt by association effectively, e.g. notice the association to "lead", "asbestos", "nuclear", etc.

So, if you have a problem with Fluoride (as I do) use competent sources
and non-conspiratorial arguments and maybe people will listen. Whining about "corporate greed" makes it sound like you have suffered the consequences of too much Fluoroide.

If you want to see examples of perfect teeth, look at the Masai or Samburu tribes of Northern Kenya, do they use toothpaste? No, they eat natural foods & clean out any food particles with twigs from the toothbrush tree!!
If you need a toothpaste use baking soda mixed with a little lemon juice or a natural soap ( olive oil based perhaps ). Even so called organic toothpastes often use glycerol that coats the teeth & stops them absorbing minerals & so hinders the natural re-enameling.

XYLITOL folks! Yes, use toothpaste with xylitol (spry brand or other) which is a natural substitute for the killer flouride. My kids and I use it and what a difference!

Xylitol combats cavities, inhibits plaque, remineralizes tooth enamel, fights and prevents ear infections, helps fight bad breath and helps with sinus infections. Since I'm on the topic, I buy XClear to use for first signs of sinus congestion for my kids and I which contains xylitol. It clears the sinus congestion immediately. Great stuff!!!

I realised Fluoride caused my IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) completely by accident. This led to my examining the “other side” of this issue, with dismaying results!

My personal experience and subsequent findings were published in the IBS UK Network magazine. It can be found here, together with a response from Professor Nick Read, who plays devil’s advocate, and with whom I had a long correspondence prior to publishing.
