The more consideration you can show for people around you, the better you can cultivate your social network, which is a highly under-rated asset. The vibrating would alert me to when I was possibly losing my audience and I could use common sense to determine what action to take, if any. I only hope it does not have a bad electromagnetic field, because I am affected by those :( Also, EMF has been linked to autism by several researchers (I'll see if I can dig up the references).

re: Are You Boring?

MORE MACHINES??????

What happened to looking and listening to a person, or even to ask them if they are bored. How many of our communication skills are we losing?

I miss my world when we talked to each other, and did NOT depend on a piece of machine to think for us. Uggggggg!

re: Are You Boring?

If you don't want to be considered boring, don't talk about yourself. ;-)

re: Are You Boring?

While reading facial expressions is a start there is a lot more to emotions than just facial expressions. I can see where this might help people who lack in social graces, but it seems like overkill.

Mary

re: Are You Boring?

Sounds like a much needed device for compensating for the lack of social skills in those who spend their days in front of the computer playing games...

Although, I have to admit, if some of my college professors had a grip on this it would have saved me the glazed eyes, drool, and ultimate embarrassment of whipping awake totally disoriented or dropping my pen as my bored brain told my hand to relax and seek a quiet place...

Maybe it should be used to test teachers and speakers before they are allowed to speak...

re: Are You Boring?

This sounds like a later day version of a type of expansive polygraph?

As with any new invention, no doubt the evil guys will exploit it, for nefarious purposes, long before the benefits, if any are implemented.

I can just see the walk up booth version in a Walgreen's to scan and then tell you which (harmful and expensive) prescription drugs "you should be asking you doctor about"....(who's already taken a bribe to push the overpriced stuff...

re: Are You Boring?

Yes I am a boring person it seems, especially conversations on health issues. We don't even need a computerized device around my neck of the woods, seeing others reactions tells it all. I try to pass on information that I get attempting to at least help others become aware of the current hazards of food, drugs, manipulation, (ect) and the many alternate routes they might want to check into that others, and research have proved benificial. But, it seems the only reaction I am getting is looking off and frowning, rejection shaking of heads, laughing, scolding, and on and on. No doubt I am boring them to death with maybe the only issue that they need to be acting on--their health. But, it seems that any other issue strikes up a friendly conversation that everyone enjoys to participate in. The two places here that are always filled are, the clinic and the drug store. Very few people I have talked to has gone a different route with their health, and, those very few people have gotten over their ailments. I guess this is like as the saying goes--this is only for the ones who are willing to accept it!

If the article I read is true that autisim doesn't exist in the Amish community, I would wonder why?

re: Are You Boring?

And this technology is a benefit? How is reading body language not as accurate?

Elton.
