I just found out I am pregnant and I am already an organic freak haha - I have barely heard of at-home water births but of course have never had to think of it for myself until NOW.
I knew something had to be fishy about that whole hospital procedure since I'm not a fan of the medical industry myself but unfortunately have been in the hospital more than I should have most of my life.
I did not think I would be thinking of pregnancy and birth options just yet, but here I am pregnant and now that I am - I am going to do all I can to do what is right to ME not for any other societal sheep - just like all other aspects of my life.
After reading your reply, I think this sounds like the path I want to take but I'm still young and have no house - I live in an apt. Is that even possible without your own home? I have a sense you did a lot Healthy research to have your child and especially since you have other conditions as I do, I am stuck now whether to stick to medical chemicals and advice or start obeying my natural intuition to what I KNOW is healthy for a pregnancy and child birth.
Anyone is welcome to reply to me or email me, I just specifically noticed some things I would like to hear about further from Bikin mom, so please help me explore those interests you have sparked with me - i.e. the vitamins you speak of etc etc etc

re: Four Steps to Organic Motherhood

How I wish I had seen this list 8 years ago when I started pregnancy and motherhood! If you follow Dr Samuel Epstein, he calls this "Green-Washing".
Making something sound all nice and fuzzy warm when it actually is not.
Lots of toxic and carcinogenic chemicals are natural and organic, but they are still toxic, as Dr Epstein has researched.
Look more towards products that have been classified as 'Safe and Effective'. Dr Epsetin has recommended the ones that he has thoroughly researched himself.
Be informed

re: Four Steps to Organic Motherhood

Hi My baby is 18 months and I stopped breastfeeding a couple months ago. Bad mommy, I know. I have been breastfeeding for almost 3 years. I had no idea about how to be healthy or toxin free. I think about my Dr's recommendations while I was preganant. The most information I received was, don't drink diet coke (not because it was thought to be harmful, but because I needed to gain more weight!). I was told to drink the real thing. I also remember asking the doc if I should quit dying my hair, and she said "Why?". She could not believe that anything could penetrate my scalp. I quit anyway, but my child does struggle with Asperger Syndrome (mild autism), and is healing because of our healthy lifestyle and Dr. Mercola's many healthy recommendations. One will never know if it could have been prevented (of course the vaccinations he received up until age 2 didn't help) I have 2 girls , eight years apart. The older one went through menses at 12, the younger one at 10. I attribute this to eight years of daily hair washing with traditional shampoo (this was before I had any knowledge about the chemicals used in body care products.
