When Ben Bagdikian predicted this more than 20 years ago in his book The Media Monopoly, he was called "alarmist". But when he updated his book in the 1990's, there were already fewer than two dozen media corporations controlling almost all of America's newspapers, magazines, TV stations, radio stations, books, records, movies, videos, wire services and photo agencies. He predicted that the number would fall even farther, and was greeted with skepticism. But his critics have been proven wrong as an increasingly small number of corporations control an increasingly huge percentage of the media market.

I agree that the media is being manipulated, and the public. It follows that the Internet will soon be manipulated and freedom to speak globally will come to a scretching halt. You can be sure the the controllers have plans to put a halt to free speech on the Internet as much as possible.

I am very pleased that Dr. Mercola is focusing on the most dreadful status of the controlled major media. There is one totally uncontrolled newspaper in the U.S.. The American Free Press is a weekly newspaper that accepts no advertising from major corporations and covers the major U.S. and world news without the bias that has become standard in all the major media sources. I can recommend it without reservation to anyone who wants to get the real story of what's going on in our troubled world. The corruption in the media definitely extends to public broadcasting. Here's my story. The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation is Canada's version of the BBC, a television and radio network which is funded by the Canadian taxpayers. Here's how they revised the truth in one news item regarding George W. Bush.

In April 2003, I listened to a live broadcast of the first Bush/Blair news conference on CBC Radio. The two men read prepared statements regarding the invasion of Iraq, then took questions from the press. Several softball questions were lobbed by a couple American reporters, then a British reporter asked a more pointed question and to my astonishment, Bush's reply was about 20 seconds of mouth melt-down. Literally he could not form a phrase, much less a coherent thought. Blair then stepped in with his dulcet tones to take the heat off Bush, and then they ended the press conference right after.

But what happened next shook me to the core. Two hours later the noon news came on CBC Radio. The lead item was the Bush/Blair press conference, and the announcer said "Bush responded strongly to press criticism of the war in Iraq" (I'm slightly paraphrasing here, as I'd have to go back to my files to get the exact words). I thought "Whaaat???" What I then heard made the hair stand up on the back of my neck. CBC Radio replayed the British reporter's question, and then, instead of playing the stammering, stuttering gobble-de-gook Bush actually uttered, CBC inserted a couple sentences from Bush's prepared remarks, which he'd read at the beginning of the press conference. In other words, they faked the news to make Bush look better than he actually was.

I lodged a complaint with the Canadian broadcast regulator, the Canadian Radio and Television Commission (CRTC), and months later received an email from CBC Radio saying they regretted their "error." It was no error, it was a deliberate act to deceive the public.

One of the best 'no holds barred' news sources I have found is a two hour talk radio show called "News and Views" hosted by a father and son team of Dr. Larry Bates and Chuck Bates. They deliver in depth insight on current topics much in the same way Dr. Mercola exposes issues in health and healthcare. The show is on over 70 radio stations, shortwave and live stream M-F from noon to 2 pm Central Time at www.inforadionet.com. A couple months worth of programs are available in the archive section on their website also.

why would someone want to cite a liberal website that does not have diverse opionions as their true objective --- if i want liberal opinions i merely need to read most of the major newspapers or watch the major network news services to get that opinion --- conservative talk radio thrives because that is what people want to hear to get the "other side" to otherwise clearly biased news reports---- in a FREE society that is driven by a FREE market economy the things people want to watch and hear will be what makes it ---- liberal talk radio repeatedly fails no matter how it is packaged --- trying to legislate liberal radio is not just wrong its criminal and infringes on ALL our rights and is the worst way to assure we will only get one viewpoint --- being concerned with the dwindling number of owners to free media is of course an issue but one can't legislate what they show or air --otherwise lets stop pretending and just declare the USA a socialistic state where we are told what to think and how to act

These are interesting posts here about Dr. Mercola's news articles today re controlled media. By the way, I couldn't agree more and this is why I read Dr. Mercola.

However, what I don't understand is this: There are some posts here about Michael Moore - he's not a true journalist, he's a far left liberal, etc. What do the posters mean? I'm not sure.

My hubby and I saw SICKO last night. Excellent movie/documentary. Everyone should see it. It brought me to tears. Why? Because my family and I have lived it. What I see in this documentary is true to life.

So, I ask - what is different about Michael Moore bringing to the forefront what is really going on and that of Dr. Mercola? What is the difference?

The status quo and the establishment have taken over this country. We all know that. So, how does one go about getting the opposite messages to the masses such as Michael Moore does? As a realist, I know it isn't going to happen by digging deep into the bowels of the interent - that isn't going to happen with "the masses." We all here do it; but the masses aren't going to do it.

Just Curious.

As I live and breathe, there are only two researchers to my knowledge who tell the whole truth as they know it: Joseph Mercola and Alex Jones (www.infowars.com). It is blatantly obvious that the news is totally controlled. AOL is an excellent example of this. Try to post anything to an AOL board that is objective or has merit with content and meaning, and AOL deletes it within minutes. The trash posts remain. I have seen this happen many times as I have tried to post rational thoughts on their boards and they are deleted. They simply don’t want anyone voicing opinions that oppose their agendas.
This week was an extremely important week politically; yet, AOL chose to completely ignore any stories regarding the immigration bill defeat. I could not find an article that referred to it, yet it was perhaps the most important political defeat that has happened in the history of America. The people spoke, yet AOL (Time Warner) chose not to acknowledge that maybe people are in control.
So yes, this article is 100% correct. I was exposed to everything about Paris Hilton that I didn't need to know at all, nor did I care one bit about her, her jail term or anything else she doesn’t have to offer, yet Larry King decided she was so important that he gave her a whole hour of nothingness. My respect, what little I had anyway, for Larry King is down the tubes. That hour was the most pathetic display of news media low I have ever witnessed. The media has lost my attention.

There are, however, a few voices that appear out of control, such as Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Lou Dobbs, Rush Limbaugh, and maybe a couple others. Oh, yes, of course, Dr. Mercola. Without them, we would be in absolute darkness.

I have great hope for the future despite this situation with TV, radio, and newspapers... because our younger generation is solidly into the internet as their source for information. The youth of today will be a greatest generation tommorrow. They will find the truth and as they mature, they will use it.

What really bothers me is that PBS is no better than the others. Sometimes I catch snippets of the Jim Lehrer News Hour and it is so biased for Big Pharma and the conventional medicine paradigm that I walk away. It is sponsored by Scots company (which makes pesticides and fertilizer) and AGM, I think it was, which apparently creates GMOs but I never looked into it. They had a report once about food irradiation that was really slanted pro-irradiation. I don't care to have cable since I never watch TV except PBS.

The FACT that there is not a single station that is honestly trying to get to the truth, not even PBS, scares me. It scares me not for myself. I know it for what it is. We Mercolites know it for what it is. It scares me for the millions of people who don't know better. I was one of those. How in the world are we going to help all those brainwashed people? They are in so much danger and they don't even know it.

The good news is that a lot of the issues Dr. Mercola has brought up are starting to be addressed. Once my parents were watching Channel 7 news and they had a rather decent report on raw milk!

Why does this situation surprise us? Isn't this the "mode of operandi" of mega corporations? Namely, expand and take over? I was very disappointed in the manner in which Fox News handled the interview of Dr. M, then I realized, that the news media is ignorant of the majority of what goes on in the field of medicine; and they accepted the view point of someone they trusted in the field of medicine, which of course was a mistake. I've given individuals advice to manage their own health care, and not to go along with everything the present medical establishment purports. Unless a person studies many medical reports, they can't possibly see the whole picture. So they make decisions on the assumption that their doctor knows all there is to know. And likewise, the same goes for the news media. We can learn a very valuable lesson from this scenario, which is, when we know we don't have all of the information on a particular subject, seek more information and study more of the topic.
Sounds like we're moving towards a one world government. One entity in control. Will there be world peace then? Technology seems to be advancing globalization.
