NOW..the only ones who wear orange are inmates.
It is confusing to our children to see the bombardment of weight loss ads and plastic surgery reality shows.
As my wise 8 yr old asks
... why don't people love themselves for who they are?

I tell her ...because instead of fixing the inside, they try to fix the outside.

re: New Diet Drug Touches Off a Feeding Frenzy

Okay, for those who say it works.
Perhaps it does work, but what harm is it doing to your body?

I feel that what it is doing is un-natural and likely harmful to the body.
Therefore, I conclude that work or not, it is probably unsafe to be taking.
I would go for a natural method of losing weight over taking any pill they may ever come up with.
The natural method is to eat whole foods only. This is easy said and hard to do, but it works far better than a pill, plus it is natural and safe.

re: New Diet Drug Touches Off a Feeding Frenzy

Another short cut, just as we have seen in so many other things in the so called health world. We as consumers are counted as fools by Big Pharma, the proof is in the products, and the advertising. Got a head ache, here is a pill, got heart burn, here is another pill, etc., etc. When are we as consumers of healthcare, cars, textiles, or what ever understand what these ads are all about. Separating you from your money, and basically give nothing in return, but make you think you are getting something.

P. T. Barnum was right, there is a sucker born every minute. We have only ourselves to blame, because we allow others to do too much of our thinking for us. We no longer read, we are in a place where we are easily led by the nose, or this trend or that. We now find ourselves more worried about the whether or not Brittney Spears is wearing panties, then we worry about our government representatives, and whether or not they are truly guarding our freedoms, or just protecting their little power.

It pains me to see and hear how many of us are taken in by Big Pharma, and there appears to be a lack of will on the part of the general public to search for alternatives, useful alternatives. Media has gone off the deep end with Big Pharma ads, and our "Spineless" congress cannot see how these ads are erodding life in America. Because at best Big Pharma is only offering crutches.

Ask yourself, how much live food did you consume today, in the form of fresh fruits, and vegetables, and how much of that was grown locally? Why fresh, and why local? Heat destroys the nutrients our body seeks, and at the same time there is a time factor from picking to consuming. The shorter that time the better. Our good health and the lack thereof all lies in our own two hands. Trouble is with the demise of the family farm, seems we no longer understand these facts.

re: New Diet Drug Touches Off a Feeding Frenzy

I am glad to see that not everyone on this board is bashing Alli (there are 2 of you on it). Let me also say I am disappointed to again see Dr. Mercola's black-and-white thinking on this issue. I do respect him greatly but I also believe it is not right to bash a medication that helped me lose 35lb and yes, I kept it off on my own for a year while only sporadically turning to the drug for weak points (holiday weight gain, etc). I did not reach my goal yet-still have 20 or so more pounds to go which is why I restarted with the Alli product (before, I was on prescription Xenical).

For those of you who say this drug wipes away ALL fat-soluble vitamins, I know this and have a strategy for replenishment. One meal a day I do not take alli and instead have low-carb yogurt along with freshly ground organic flax, sesame, and pumpkin seeds. Flax and pumpkin are rich in omega-3. Also I take my fish oil at this time. Since I restarted Alli my inflammation in my left knee (which has arthritis) has completely gone away. I believe this is the Alli removing excess omega-6's from my diet and even further improving the omega-3: omega-6 ratio. Yes, you CAN use this drug to further improve upon Dr. Mercola's principles! At least I am; and I do not resort to ultra-low-fat like most of the users. I must say I feel better since starting the Alli.

I spend plenty of time out in the sun which supplies me with vitamin D, eat plenty of leafy greens and carotene-rich foods which in turn supplies me with vit A and K, and the fish oil I take has vitamin E supplied in it. And I do not take my Alli around the time I take the fish oil. That is also the strategy of Alli users- taking the multivit at bedtime, although I would add it's important to take your multivit with a little oil to help absorb those vitamins- and supply you with healthy monounsaturated fat.I take mine with some extra-virgin olive.

re: New Diet Drug Touches Off a Feeding Frenzy

For those of us who have "more to love", the enticement of new and "improved" diet suppliments or delivered meals are a temptation. Commercials and magazines tell us if we have a clear complexion, fit into a size 2 dress and buy this brand of makeup, only then are we beautiful. I say baloney! I want to give a personal testemony to Mercola's adviced FucoThin. I've been on it a month or so, and with hardly any effort, I have lost and kept off 8 pounds. I quit drinking root beer ( a vise for me), and I can literally feel my stomach start to shrink up. I will be honest in saying I am 5'3 and at my heaviest I weighed 192; a fact I am not proud of. There are other reason's other than food as to my weight gain; my allergy shot is a steriod, and I do take two other med's daily. Anyway, I am trying, and that is all any of us can do. Since I live in an area that is rural, we don't eat out and I don't buy convienence foods. My bad habit is I am a smoker, but in time, I will overcome that as well. Back to the FucoThin: I've never tried any other weight loss pill, but know this; I don't feel hyped up, and I really do feel full quicker!

re: New Diet Drug Touches Off a Feeding Frenzy

I still want to let people know that if they were to start using Coconut Oil to eat and use while cooking, it is one of the best ways to take the weight off. I have lost 25 pds, and kept it off for six months. I cook Millet, and use a tabls. of Coconut oil on it in the morning for breakfast. Along with taking Pro-Biotics, I beleive this is what took my weight down, I can contribute this to nothing else. This homeopathic remedy helps slowly but surely remove the individual's underlying distortion pattern at its roots (i.e., at the sensation level) that historically triggered unhealthy eating patterns and ineffective metabolism. Dr. Rajan Sankaran's new method of determining the correct remedy is nothing short of amazing, and is the most necessary component in my practice to effect real cure. For more information on the Sankaran System go to www.cchomeopathic.com and click on "Vital Sensation" for an explanation by Dr. Sankaran of how the remedies work. I also include a description of this revolutionary new system in my book, "Radical Medicine."
However I think the problem for many dieters is they are getting too
LITTLE fat, not too much. Fat not only helps to control your insulin
levels, it helps actually satisfy you and make you feel full, so that
those cravings can go away.

Furthermore I have read somewhere (i believe it was Eat fat to lose fat
by sally fallon) that coconut oil has 7 calories per gram of fat rather
than the norm of 9. That is a 25% reduction right there if you simply
replaced many fats with coconut oil

re: New Diet Drug Touches Off a Feeding Frenzy

Well, when I saw the subheading, "Want Diapers With That?"
