I pay my taxes monthly as I'm self employed. I consider it "rent" to live in Canada. Though I don't agree with all the ways this rent is spent, overall, I feel lucky to live in this country, and don't mind paying my rent at all.

If they are like me, they were probably just glad to get the whole tax-paying thing over with. I dread the whole process and feel tremendous relief when it is over.

It is apparent that even Dr. Mercola does not seem to understand that Ron Paul's proposal to eliminate the Federal Reserve is to prevent the creation of artificial money substitutes that serve to steal the public of the products of their labor, rather than to prevent "printing more money as we run out". It is not possible to "run out" when real money is gold or silver. A review of all the other comments reveals that most people: hate taxes; distrust government; have concluded that government lies; see education as government controlled; realize government has corrupted our money; don't understand the nature of liberty and independence, as they are kept ignorant and brain-washed; are aware of Ron Paul's presidential candidacy and his real chance to win and restore constitutional government; don't know that the 16th amendment ot the constitution made it possible to introduce the idea of taxing personal property and income, thereby destroying the soverignty of the individual and reducing him to a pitiful subject of the State ; don't understand that elected representatives of the people are violating the provisions of our constitution that they swore to uphold. We should all realize, as did the Founding Fathers, that there is more to life than health and wealth; there is that precious essence that lights a fire of the sublime possibilities of fulfillment within each human soul ...... and that is the incandescent spirit of personal liberty, from which flows the limitless cornucopia of human endeavor.

Taxes don't *all* go to supporting the IRS, buying the gov a new limo, etc. It mostly comes back to us in the form of improved roads, etc. Yes, some of it goes to welfare. and I for one am glad to help out others in need in whatever form I can.

Giving to Charities does feel good, but I think you have to be careful who you give to. I receive invitations constantly in the mail, Heart Association, Cancer Society etc. Then I got to thinking one day, did some research and found out that The Amercian Cancer Society has been around since 1913. So in other words, we have been donating to this cause for this many years, and they still don't have a cure????? Of course,if your into health like I am, you know it won't be be with some drug!! But anyway you really have to be careful because I believe these non profits are only feeding their pockets. Something to think about.

Dr Ron Paul is an awesome choice for president and I think he has a much better chance than Dr mercola thinks.

Many people in this country stil theorize that there is a law which requires them to pay personal income tax, HOWEVER to date
NO_ONE has been able to share this law.

No one knows of a law and no one has been able to quote such law,
because it does not exist!

If anyone knows the law which requires me to pay personal income tax,
kindly provide it for me or give the URL or tell me where the law is, or tell me what the law says.

Who conducted the study I wonder? I hope it wasn't the government or the IRS in a further attempt to deceive us into believing the lies:
Paying personal income tax is mandatory as supported by law.
Paying personal income tax feels good.

If you gave me $100 for nothing and I didnt have to work for it,
why would I or anyone care weather you took some random amount out of it from $0 to $45? It wouldn't matter as in the mind of the receipient
they would still be anywhere from $55 to $100 ahead.
So what feels good is getting money (any money) for free bascially.

We should do away with income and property tax, and impose a sales tax. Instead of punishing people for working, we'd be punishing people for consuming. That would help heal the planet.

Of course nobody enjoys paying taxes, but I do know a lot of people that do enjoy working the numbers in there head, no matter how simple or complex. And of course, in this case, they were given free money for a study as opposed to actually sending off there own, hard-earned cash.

A study done on University students.... maybe they should perform the same test on people who actually pay taxes.

The experiment reminds me of the scientist who said, "If I didn't know what I was looking for, I never would have seen it."

I would have preferred to see an experiment where people were promised $1,000 for sweating their asses off doing something with disdain, only to be paid half of that with some flimsy excuse that their just wasn't enough funding to go around. Do the MRIs again and THEN come back and tell me how happy those same people were paying taxes when they then felt cheated and swindled.

That scenario is a little closer to home.

The tax is "mandatory" only if one is an "Individual" i.e. a U.S. Citizen with "foreign earned income or a foreign person with domestic source income. The Constitution prohibits the Gov't from "directly" taxing a Citizen's property. The Citizen can only be taxed "indirectly" if involved in a Federal excise "privileged" activity. American Citizens have a "Right" to pursue Life, Liberty and Happiness. Only through ignorance of the tax laws does one "volunteer" to declare to be a "taxpayer" to pay a "tax" on domestic source "income". The tax Code is 100% correct. It only needs to be applied properly by the IRS to those to whom the revenue tax applies. I can provide citations from court decisions, statutes and regs if interested.
