I've completely excluded grains of any kind, pasteurized dairy products and commercial meats that are not grass-fed, antibiotic and hormone free. It has made a huge differerce in my life.

I consume only safe types of fish, eggs, free-range chicken and turkey, buffalo and lots of fresh complete salads. I consume very little sugar of any kind. In between meals I'll eat either a salad or some type of whole fruit but never fruit juice because of the sugar. I do eat Dagoba chocolate bars about twice a week (after a meal). I've benefitted so greatly from your words of wisdom that I can't thank you enough. I just wish that I had found your site years ago.

One last interesting fact is that if I eat a good salad before a workout at the gym, my energy level is outstanding. I believe this to be due to the complex carbohydrate nature of the vegetables and the fact that they don't escalate my sugar level like processed foods would; they spread it out over a longer period of time to help keep my energy levels higher for longer periods of time. They also don't raise my insulin levels like energy drinks tend to do.

Thank you again!

Kevin R.
New Jersey

re: Seven Ways Your Body Tells You You're Hungry ... What about the secretion of the hormone leptin telling us that we are still hungry? This is a hormone secreted when you have visceral obesity ( thats the kind around your abdominal cavity , or beer gut) This hormone keeps the hunger centre in the brain on. Therefore you are never satisfied. The only way to stop this feeling of hunger is to lose the excess weight and stop secreting the hormone. Hard call! The solution is to avoid a beer gut, avoid obesity and have some personal discipline about food before i

re: Seven Ways Your Body Tells You You're Hungry ... Now that I stick mostly with meat and veggies I have to carefully portion my food because I never get full. I haven't been able to figure out how this works.
I usually eat on a schedule not because I am hungry because if I didn't, I would probably only eat once a day which is supposedly bad for you.

re: Seven Ways Your Body Tells You You're Hungry ... Consistency tells the body what to expect and when to expect it. It is habit.

And habit is a powerful tool. It will make you or break you. It can make you a complete failure or an ingenious mastermind. It can enslave you with the thickest chains, or free you from your worst problems.

The only trick is getting those good habits, and ridding yourself the bad ones; that, and recognizing what is a good or bad habit.

The most important thing, is knowing what encourages either.
