In law, corporations have the same legal protections and rights as citizens. Yet they are not subject to the same legal punishments and duties as citizens.

Court rulings in the US have found that it is actually illegal for a corporation to act in a manner that is not in it's own best interests. In other words, if a corporation sees an opportunity to increase monies by rail-roading over people and environment then it is expected to act in that fashion! "They are required - by law - to place the finanical interests of their owners above competing interests. In fact, the corporation is legally bound to put it's bottom line ahead of everything else even the public good" (The Corporation DVD transcript 10.15.26).

So... a lie here and there... a failure to disclose now and then... or all the time... techologies that make money but harm people and/or the ecosystem... closing competiting suppliers, manufacturers & outlets... manipulating politicians, doctors, hospitals, colleges, schools... lobbying to have laws altered to suit their agenda... infiltrating "independent" research & vetting groups... it's all just fine and dandy in legal terms.

Until the legal parameters within which corporations act are changed, entities like Monsanto will never stop. In fact, they could argue it is illegal for them to stop or change course. We will have to stop them - by getting serious and withdrawing ALL methods of support and supporting only those corporations who deserve our backing.

Not allowing them make false claims in ads is a start...

WOW! This is about the most encouraging thing I've read on the internet today! Could David really slay Goliath in this day and age? Hmmmm....Goliath (aka Monsanto) isn't dead yet, and unfortuantely, I really don't see him lying there motionless in OUR lifetime, but any blow to the head that brings him down is another point for David!!! High fives to you, Dave!!!!

Don't you just love the Internet? Here, we have the opportunity to tell the world about powerful and dangerous companies like Monsanto and their self serving marketing practices. I have known about this company since the early 1970s, when my husband was in college studying chemical engineering. One of his classmates went to work for them. He was subsequently offered a job there a few years later and declined it. No one with a conscience could work there very long, unless, perhaps, they were intellectually impaired. It is a very ruthless corporation run by very cunning people.

Monsanto (wish I could come up with a clever acronym to describe them, like Russ) - the more I learn about them, the more I dislike them. If anyone knows little about them, I strongly urge you to watch "The Future of Food". Justice is perverted when Monsanto GM crops pollinate non-GM crops, and then Monsanto sues the innocent farmer for possessing Monsanto GM seed. Monsanto should be sued for destroying the seed that the farmer has spent a lifetime selectively cultivating and protecting. Then check out Monsanto's website and see how they portray themselves. You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll hurl.

Monsanto, proven again to be LIARS and solely out for profit, whether harming health or not for the largest net profit margins.

When you hear about MONSANTO, think Weapons Of Mass Destruction, Eugenics, Genoicide, DEATH MERCHANTS, & EVIL...their core values.

Monsanto produces that which would even make The Devil blush.

This is in South Africa. It is a shame that the FCC can not do the same thing with the drug company ads in this country. It is all about the money.
