The vast expanse of the unconscious mind is that aspect of consciousness that holds our disowned awareness and knowingness.

If one consciously makes the effort to daily work with and listen to ones dreams, one will eventually discover the most vital source of guidance available. It has been my experience that there are basically two types of dreams that we recieve. One is the common every day dream that we each experience each night that is not particularly compelling or strong in it's affect. In my experience, these are not particularly important dreams, yet they are important in that if we are working with them each day, we will eventually learn to understand the language of the unconscious.

By "working" with them, I mean to say, either writing them down each time we awaken from a dream, and recording as much detail about the dream as we can recall, or keeping a voice recording. This includes physical descriptions, feeling states and general themes etc. One has to be disciplined with this by keeping a note pad etc. beside ones bed and recording the dream details as soon as one awakens from the dream. If you put it off till later, you will forget most if not all of the dream.

Once you have developed an understanding of the language of the unconscious, then you will be more prepared to understand the meaning of the really important guidance that will come to you through what has been referred to as "Big Dreams". .. These are those dreams that are compelling to the dreamer, and most often have a strong impact when they are experienced. These are dreams that are very important messages from the unconscious regarding very serious challenges, changes or choices that we face in our waking lives. They offer the insight needed.

re: Dreams are the "Embodiment of Your Thoughts"

May Your Dreams, Like Your Hopes, Spring Eternal!

re: Dreams are the "Embodiment of Your Thoughts"

Dear Bridestein: It sounds to me as if your mind is telling you that your dad is dead and gone and that you should resolve your feelings about him and accept his death.
                                       *****************************
Dreams often are embodiments of what your mind is thinking--the mind will sometimes ponder and resolve difficult questions, and then hand you the answer.
Also, for people who do not listen to their intuition, your dreams can relay to you your current state of mind.

re: Dreams are the "Embodiment of Thoughts"

What I found missing in this article was , dreams often are associated with un-solved feelings. If you were unable to solve the bad relationship with someone close, then your system is asking you to resolve it during your waking hours.

Forgiving is a very important step to take. It is a very difficult move towards your healthy future, so that you may continue to move forward.

In these cases, there is unresolved anger and dismay. You should begin by forgiving your-self, even if you were the absolute victim.
Question why you did not speak out and take defensive actions. And please remember to tell the whole truth to your self, even if it angers or hurts you. When you finally are able to accept what had happened to you,and why, then you are ready to forgive your-self and the one or ones that hurt you this badly.

Your whole out-look on life and others will change, and then you will be able to move forward.

re: Dreams are the "Embodiment of Thoughts"

In my dream I'm startled by my father's presence at a family gathering. If I am very still and don't disturb myself, I can usually walk backwards through my dream a little ways. I am not sure I ever remember everything. Dreams are still a mystery. Interesting to read other people's theories, though. And vastly interesting to hear about other people's dreams.

re: Dreams are the "Embodiment of Thoughts"

Wow, the dream in the beginning is very reminiscent of my own recurring dream in childhood about my grandfather who died. He actually had a spoon and bowl and was clanking them. I missed him much.

I've always felt dreams were drawn from our lives, wants, desires, etc. But, this article seems to leave me wondering why it was written other than to state the obvious. I don't know, maybe someone can enlighten me as to the purpose.
