Some drugs use the same metabolic pathway and, thus, compete with one another, which can result in hazardous blood levels of one or more drugs. Before prescribing any drug for my aging dog, my vet would do blood tests to see how her kidneys were functioning, and several other panels I can't remember just to make sure the body could handle the extra stress load. I have never seen a doctor do this before prescribing anything.

This is a serious problem and the best way to handle it would be to tell your pharmacist, not your doctor, what you are taking and let him or her check for interactions and side effects. Pharmacists can be very helpful in that area. That is their field of expertise. Doctors often know very little about the drugs they prescribe. Armed with what the pharmacist says, then you can go to your various doctors.

I can't tell you not to go to doctors in the first place but that would be my own personal solution.

re: Elderly Risk Poisoning by Multiple Drug Cocktails

In my personal experience over the years, .. it has been shocking to witness the number of medications that many individuals and especially the elderly are condemned to taking on a daily basis and according to their physicians orders.

It seems quite apparent to me, as I have observed to be typical of these individual patients,.. that their health continues to deteriorate while at the same time the number of prescriptions they are taking, in turn continues to escalate. ......... With this in mind,.. it is not too difficult to figure out why as each year passes, more and more individuals are turning to "natural" or what is more commonly referred to as "alternative" medicine,.... because they discover that the natural approach is what works. The Allopathic approach is ultimately a path to ones own destruction.

In my opinion, one of the most important aspects of the natural approach to healing is the fact that it puts the responosibility for healing where it belongs,.. in the hands of the patient. .. Natural medicine is empowering of the individual. .... Allopathic Medicine is empowering of the pharmaceutical corporation,.. and that is most definately to the detriment of the individual.

re: Elderly Risk Poisoning by Multiple Drug Cocktails

This post was deleted because it violated our Terms Of Use :
Comment does not pertain to the topic of the article or does not provide value or insight to the discussion.
