High cholesterol and its parameters is a disease that has been invented by the pharmaceutical companies to sell drugs. People need cholesterol to make hormones and for proper brain function. More than 50% of people who have heart attracts do not have high cholesterol yet the medical authorities want us to believe that heart disease is caused by high cholesterol levels. Cholesterol drugs have many harmful side effects which will probably kill a young adult that starts taking these drugs way before they ever develop heart disease. (My own mother died at 72 after 7 years on statin drugs from cancer. I believe the cancer was a result of low CoQ10 levels caused by the statin drugs)

If one looks at the research associated with cholesterol theory, they. would see through the fraud that has been sold to us as truth. In particular the association between heart disease and high cholesterol levels in the famous Framingham study only held true for a five year period in men only (If you research high cholesterol and older women you will see a positive relationship between higher cholesterol levels and longer life) For more information on the cholesterol issue - visit the site http://www.ravnskov.nu/cholesterol.htm for more info.

For myself, I perceive this as a calculated transfer of wealth from the population to the pharmaceutical companies. We all share the cost of all prescription medications not only when we pay for our own health insurance but also everytime we buy a product that is producted by a company that offers its employees health insurance.

Cheryl Rounds
www.organicandhealthy.blogspot.com

re: More Young Adults on Cholesterol Drugs

...MONEY...MONEY...MONEY....
Sniff out the BIG money ....and there you will find the sh..
Drugs....cocacola....Mcshi. ... soy....veg oils...processed junk...I could go on!

re: More Young Adults on Cholesterol Drugs

This article sounded like an ad for Lipitor, Vytorin or Zetia. Except for the one line that younger people should try lifestyle changes first. Of course that was sandwiched in between why people need statins in the first place.

Mary

re: More Young Adults on Cholesterol Drugs

By the way, DITO on your comment, KeteeRo

The herb Jiao Gu Lan can be used by young and old alike! Here are the facts:

Let’s first take a look at its Cholesterol Lowering Abilities : Jiao Gu Lan lowers total cholesterol, <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /> <st1:stockticker> LDL </st1:stockticker> cholesterol, and raises <st1:stockticker> HDL </st1:stockticker> cholesterol. More than 20 papers have been published on the subject with effectiveness reported as ranging from 67 to 93%. It also inhibits platelet aggregation which lessens the chance of a stroke or heart attack

As for blood pressure 223 patients were divided into three groups. One group took Ginseng, the next took Jiaogulan and the last took the blood pressure medication, "Indapamide". The effectiveness was rated at 46% for Ginseng, 82% for Jiaogulan and 93% for Indapamide. Jaio Gu Lan modulates blood pressure, lowering it when it is too high and raising it when it is too low.
