Previously a beekeeper, always believing our healing is from nature, when 60 minutes aired the spot on Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD), I contacted David Hackenberg & he was gracious enough to speak with me. (He is one of our country's major beekeepers, was on 60 minutes, had lost 1/3 of his bees in 2006, again in 2007. See Silence of the Bees, PBS. He felt sure die off was from (nionicetenoids [Monsanto--check the stocks price!]). As I understand it: There are 160 chemicals in the family of chemicals.... 6 classes within the group of nionicetenoids. (they banned one ... of the 160 in France and came up with the concusion that banning (Gaucho) wasn't correcting the problem. ALL 160 are INSECTICIDES. Bees are insects! They cause nervous & immune system confusion as I understand it. Farm use has stricter use rules than home use and many residential developments complete with LAWNS are abbutting farmlands. The chemical travels in water. So all of you being good neighbors keeping your lawns perfect and watered.... if you are using the chemical you are most likely part of the problem.
There are lots of theories floating around... cell phones etc. However, I tend to give alot ALOT of weight to the education of the people with their feet on the ground... beekeepers who have been beekeeping 40 years and have 3000 (or did have) hives. Who LOVE their bees and the work they do. I believe them over multinational companies or over big hearted opinions with no real experience. Here is the crux: we tend to think the FDA is here to protect the citizens, after all it is Our Government. Read "Seeds of Deception" and understand how the system works to keep our economy strong. They are not bad people... it is a system-WE ARE IT!
