Politics and ideology go hand in hand, which is why scientific progress in the U.S., under the influence of far-right religious extremists, has slowed to a crawl in the last eight years. Clearly the grant applicants were aware of what were red-flag words. Scientific research results on global warming were heavily redacted under the Bush administration. For the same reason, other nations are far ahead of us in stem cell research. We can expect to see major progress resume under the next administration.

How can public health problems be confronted and solutions researched if clear language and clarity of terms cannot be accommodated? I see no profanity or vulgarity in these topics. Simply honest, clearly described health issues that must we dealth with honestly if progress is to be made.
