Being a trainer myself I'm probably biased, but I agree that having a qualified, knowledgable personal trainer can go a long way in helping achieve exercise success. If you're doing exercises incorrectly you'll either be wasting time or you may even end up doing more damage than good. Even though you can't beat the personal attention and motivation of having your own personal trainer, for many people that's not affordable or realistic. There are some good web sites out there that provide exercise instruction and daily workout routines, like www.myweighttrainer.com (more of a traditional bodybuilding routine) and www.crossfit.com (more of a powerlifting routine). Even easier to find are sites with static workout routines offered either free or for sale. But the most important thing is simply to get up and get moving.

I do classes such as Spin and Bodypump and BodyBalance and also my own exercise routines for variety.

Q1. I am a little confused when listening to this if he was using "cardio" and "aerobic training" as two different things - has anyone else this impression and can clarify what he is meaning?

Q2. Also he mentioned that people do not need more than 3 minutes of "cardio vascular" training to get the optimum benefits, perhaps more if diabetic. Then the words "45" were also on the sound track. This part of the vid is poorly edited and unclear, did he really mean cardio or did he mean interval training?

Q3. What was the supplement he mentioned for anti-oxidant protection, was that a plug for something in which he has a vested interest or impartial advice?

Thanks if anyone can help.

It is easy to get into a routine and plateau on a slow steady aerobic decline. Fast, burst, anaerobic, interval exercise is the the key to raising and maintaining optimum fitness.

I teach spinning (indoor cycling) which is a wonderful way to get very intense bursts of exercise without the pounding that causes many of the problems for lifelong runners. Track intervals are also excellent but harder on the body.

Without doubt one of the best weight intervals can be found by doing the Cross Fit workouts (http://www.crossfit.com/). Dr. Mercola explained the importance of balance, variety and intensity within workouts. Crossfit lists a different workout on their website every day. Each one is high intensity and focuses on functional fitness.
