Has anyone been watching or reading the news on Pfizer since this posting? It seems like everywhere I look they are talking about this and it's effect on the market. I just think it's more evidence of how far the pharm. industry has gotten. Instead of focusing on the health of people the analysts are looking at the "effect" on the stocks. Crazy!

I'm willing to bet that this move isn't a "win" and "we" aren't making so much as a dent in their sales. They've probably come up with higher tech, less personnel intensive, less expensive techniques to improve sales. Getting all the "treatment guidelines" and EBM algorithyms in place is one thing I'm seeing more and more of. Of course, there's also their success with DTC advertising and disease awareness groups and medicine by press release. Hell, a well placed magazine article is probably more effective at generating sales than direct cold calls.

Drug companies prefer to treat symptoms instead of cure diseases because there is more money in that approach. If they cure the disease, there goes their repeat business. Also, if they get us to keep taking their drugs, the drugs may cause additional diseases to develop. Then they can sell us more drugs to treat the diseases that their drugs caused. Nobody should have to support their family by working for a company that doesn't care what they do to a person's health as long as they make money.

I took Lipitor for about two weeks until I began to get dizzy when I got up from sitting or lying down. I looked for another alternative and stopped taking the Lipitor. My Cholesterol is within acceptable limits and I wonder why I was ever talked into taking such a dangerous drug. My conclusion is that I was bombarded with advertising to a point where I almost believed that the Drug companies were in the business of helping me not making money. There's no fool like an old fool. I'm 72 years old.

So Pfizer is reducing it's sales force by 2,200 what is going to happen to these people. I agree the drugs they are foisting upon the public are overpriced and unnecessary. But the sales personal still have to make a living doing something. Maybe they will sell "organic" milk to Wal-Mart. Or hopefully someone will give them your site address and they just might learn something.

I want to say this in relation to all the drugs being thrown at symptoms, its all about big money, not about quality of life or compassionate care for the people. I am not saying anything new here, I know. and as long as we are talking about taking charge of one's health, one of the issues that I would like to see addressed is the incredible potential and reality of the use of adult stem cells. forget the embryonic stem cell controversy, political football that it is. Adult stem cell nutrition is coming on the scene in a big way. Is there anyone interested in starting that discussion here, now? Thanks
