I think we are not the only animals that laugh. I remember struggling across a rock-strewn snowy slope, and a bunch of gray jays were laughing at us. This, of course, got us angry, so we threw some rocks at them, but we couldn't reach that far, and they just laughed harder. We have a hang gliding site near here on a ridge, and I watched a bunch of crows mimicking the hang gliders. One would stand on a rock and spread his wings just far enough so that the wind would lift him off the rock, meanwhile his friends would be saying, "Yes, yes! You've got the technique! We'll show them humans!" You can tell. They were having fun.

re: Laughter: The Healthy Contagion

My son has a chromosome abberation, so he does not talk. But he laughs so much he gets us laughing then he stops. We still don't know what he is laughing about.

Lincoln was asked how long his legs were, and he replied, "Long enough to reach the ground."

A key to healthy humor is that is doesn't insult or degrade. A person who can laugh at his own humanness is fun to be with. A humorist sees what is funny about life, humanity, and even a difficult situation.

Guy tells his doctor, "It hurts only when I laugh

And the doctor says, "Get used to the pain."
