In this country they have made it virtually impossible to eat a natural whole food diet.

It is illegal to sell raw milk products (if it is produced within Australia), I have no idea where you could get grass fed beef, poultry or any meat for that matter (we have a water shortage), you can't buy decent bread anywhere, and why didn't anyone tell me coconut oil stinks so much when you heat it! My husband and I can't stand the smell of coconut anymore. We used to love it and now it makes us nauseous.

I want my family to eat healthy. I now use natural fats and oils (butter, dripping, lard and unheated olive oil). Money is tight and it's expensive to go completely organic, whole food, not processed, etc. Am I doing enough? Probably not. It seems EVERYTHING CAUSES CANCER.

I am a God-fearing woman and I believe He designed our bodies to process the myriad of internal and external things that they are subjected to every day. As scientists are continuing to learn, our bodies are highly complex in functionality and the more that is discovered the more there is to learn. How could natural selection achieve that?

So back to our health, yes I think processed and man-tampered-with foods are bad for us. Yes I will do everything I can to have a natural, whole food diet, within our budget and shopping restrictions. But I believe the best preventative I have is faith, hope and a positive attitude.

Oh, and one other question. How high is high temperature when cooking food? Humans have cooked food since Adam got kicked out of Eden and he lived to be 930! So obviously it's not all in the cooking. And how do people live to be one-hundred on our modern diet? Never mind, just answer these 2 questions.

1. If we were meant to cook with coconut oil (which man has to extract) why does it smell soooo disgusting?

2.How high is too high when baking, boiling or frying?

What's this got to do with acrylamide and potato chips, you ask? Basically, there are toxins all around us. In the air, our food, our water. Some natural, some man-introduced. We need to realise that there is more going on inside our bodies than we are ever going to discover. And we are sure as anything never going to find every answer to the question why. We then have to do the best we can with what we've got and keep a positive attitude about the rest. GOD (the Higher Power) IS IN CONTROL.

If it looks like food to them, they eat it. But, as we know, most of all the conventional foods and nonfoods that are out there are riddled with toxins. Another sad note is that people are too lazy to look behind the curtain to see what they are putting into their body. When working with clients I use the Consumers Dictionary of Food Additives when going over labels with them. They are amazed on how many toxins are in the foods they eat and that a lot of their symptoms are coming from them.

It is simple:

1. Eat food from mother earth that has not been denatured.

2. If is has a shelf life, don't eat it!

3. When reading a label, if you can't pronounce an ingredient or do not recognize it, don't eat it! Your liver won't like it!

4. If it is boxed or canned, don't eat it!

5. If is contains one of the white devils (flour, sugar, salt, past milk), don't eat it!

Simple, but most people find it hard. There is so much out there in books and movies about these foods and people still eat them. I just watched Super Size Me this weekend again, and I am still amazed that that movie did not hit home for America. When people start using their brain and taking responsibility for their body, that is when things will change.

re: No One Knows -- Or is Telling You -- How Much Toxins Are in Your Potato Chips

Avoid, like the PLAGUE, any trans fat, or acrylamide laden items which can easily also include many baked goods!!!

So much for Starbuck's recent PR release claiming they will phase out trans fat baked goods in about "half" their stores, over the next 6 months to one year.

If they really were concerened about sales losses, they'd ban these HARMFUL products immediately, which they have not done.

re: No One Knows -- Or is Telling You -- How Much Toxins Are in Your Potato Chips

Hmmm...without even being aware of it, I gave up eating acrylamide about three years ago. Although I really used to enjoy snacking on acrylamide, I really don't miss it that much.

Good heavens! Even without the acrylamide those "foods" are toxic as hell! Yet people still eat them because they taste so good. I believe most people would knowingly eat lead-based paint chips if they tasted good.

When it comes to nutrition most people are ignorant... mostly by choice. The word "ignore," (steming from the word "ignorance"), rings true in most instances.

It seems most are content with satisfying their taste buds daily, rather than improving their physical healthiness and well-being over a longer, more comfortable lifetime. Why else would people continue to smoke, drink to excess, pop short term "feel-good" pills, and eat tasty toxins?
