Monsanto and others, use to alter the genetics of food crops. To carry the altered genes into a chosen crop, slime mold and the altered gene are injected into the seeds. Thus slime mold replicates itself within the plant as it develops. Thus as that plant enters the food chain we become contaminated. Soy and corn crops among others are the worst culprits. This is another reason to insist that all our produce be labled GMO, GEO when it comes from altered seeds.

re: Clone-Free Food Labeling May Soon Be a Reality at Your Grocery Store

I am so glad Ben & Jerry's is informing the public their product is clone free. Hopefully other companies will follow suit. If the FDA claims clone labeling is not necessary then this is a great way to let the public know which foods are clone-free.

God does not make cloned animals - we do not know what is left out of such animals. It is my understanding that cloned animals have a shortened life span. Don't they wonder why? Yes, it could be the clone is created from the cells of an older animal, but they have no idea what else is going on here.

Hooray for Ben & Jerry's. Let's hope other companies do the same; it has got to be good for business.

Please excuse my ignorance. (I hadn't yet considered I'd ever have the choice of cloned or not cloned meat, best I direct some focused thought to a (it seems like fantasy) certain real future.) Q: If food products like beef, poultry, etc are cloned from normal healthy (especially organically grown) 'parent' animals and farmed like their unfortunate ancestors - what's the problem? My 'glass-half-full' opinion would be that if some food products were in such high demand that there was a need to increase stock through cloning (please note, I'm not talking GM), healthier animals may result & be the choice for the store and consumer? Wouldn't it be an enhancement on even the Organic market if the highest of integrity was applied? Labels may therefore enhance a Dairy/beef/poultry/etc Food Association members would profit, not lose. Please advise.
Have an awesome and blessed life. There is a ways to go, obviously, with Trans Fats, but the momentum is clearly against them because of the labeling requirement.

"Food" derived from cloned animals or their offspring, as well as GMO "food" should be labeled.

re: Clone-Free Food Labeling May Soon Be a Reality at Your Grocery Store

I believe we must require labeling and we should require followup to make sure the labels are "for real." I fear the GM products being purposely or unknowingly phased into non-GM products may get to the point that all food sources- save a very few- would be "compromised" and separation/labeling might be then be impossible.

re: Clone-Free Food Labeling May Soon Be a Reality at Your Grocery Store

Most americans also think they have not eaten GM foods since they are not labeled. If cloned foods are not labeled they will definetly be in the food supply. If they are labeled at least people will have a choice in what they eat. Many people will chose to be ignorant but that is their choice not mine.

I have said it again and will repeat my thoughts:

It is simple:

1. Eat food from mother earth that has not been denatured.

2. Eat only certified organic foods and grass fed meats

3. If is has a shelf life, don't eat it!

4. When reading a label, if you can't pronounce an ingredient or do not recognize it, don't eat it! Your liver won't like it!

5. If it is boxed or canned, don't eat it!

6. If is contains one of the white devils (flour, sugar, salt, past milk), don't eat it!

re: Clone-Free Food Labeling May Soon Be a Reality at Your Grocery Store

Genetic modification, food or beverage irradiation, microwaving, high frequency wave reception for extended periods of time on a cell phone near ones head, chemically treated cooking equipment, are all HARMFUL, if not DEADLY...why should cloned or hormoned anything be any different?

Common sense dictates that if we as a species have survived for at least several (two or more) millenia in a agriculturally processed (to some extent) food chain, without the need of these chemical alternations to crops, livestock and nutritional intake, in point of fact, they are NOT NEEDED.

The ONLY way to stop these "evil marketing" purveyors is NOT to purchase products using such toxic means of profit and production...certainly there is clear evidence no one else is going to stop them.
