Does anyone know about the bread yeast Snocharomyces cereviscea?(Bakers' yeast). Apparently it has been modified with DNA from Escherischia coli, E coli to most people. Why has this been done? The chemist whom I was talking to, told me it was because the yeast didn't raise the bread fast enough (not a problem if they add a little extra yeast). Does this apply to Australia only or the rest of the world as well? Another good reason to not eat bread!

Has anyone else noticed an increase in acid reflux diagnoses? The common thread seems to be an unexplained chronic dry cough which physicians are quick to explain away by diagnosing as acid reflux/GERD. The other common denominator is that these people have never experienced more than a few episodes of heartburn in their lives and have no indigestion issues, but did have persistant chest colds last season.

Any ideas? Of course Prilosec gets a big ol' nod here ever time this is diagnosed. THese are also individuals with very good, low acid producing diets (my clients). I have noticed this trend over the last 3 months or so. Any new antacid meds on the market requiring a big push?

However, it contains Colour 120 which is cochineal or carmins or carminic acid (red colouring). DR MERCOLA! Please help me straighten this issue out.
Talk about fraud and deception. I love my pet dog very much! I went to the local food store to shop and buy dog food. I couldnt not find dog food where corn syrup wasnt one of the top ingredients. In every bag there was corn syrup, and well over 5 artificial flavors. Please help spread this information. The most expensive bag claiming to be "healthy" turned out to have everything that was in the cheap bag. People need to know this information. When they think they are giving their dog healthy food it is actually very bad for them! I stopped feeding my dog the food and she is soo much more energetic and HAPPY. I read that dogs originally came from the wolf family who consume mostly meat. Please study this issue and make it known world-wide. Also, I would like to know from a doctors point of view what the beast type of food dogs should actually be eating. From so many dogs I know that are passing away at an early age this topic is crucial to many who want their dogs to be as happy as their owner is. THIS IS A HUGE FRAUD AND DECEPTION. Please help. THE TRADER (TRAITOR) JOE'S STORES - ARE THEY REALLY HEALTH FOOD STORES?

You only need to walk up to the first food item in the store and begin to read the ingredient list to realize that you are being terribly deceived and you are NOT in a health food store. In the past the store carried other quality names, but now 90% of the items in the store are repackaged under the Trader Joe name. And you can believe that there is a VERY important reason why they do not want you to know what the brand names are. It is not because they can then provide you with a lesser cost. The manager of a reputable health food store in the area informed me when I asked him about this, that their stores are owned by very wealthy Europeons who also own the Aldi stores and that many of the products in this supposed health food store are repackaged Aldi foods. The uninformed public needs to know that simply because a box lists that there are no preservatives or added colorings, this does not guarantee healthy ingredients. An ingredient list that begins with enriched wheat flour is definitely NOT good for you.

Kraft Cheese products often use no dairy whatsoever in their "cheese products".

"in 2002, the FDA issued a perfunctory warning letter to the company. Kraft thumbed its nose at the federal agency by removing their "cheese foods" labels and replacing them with equally misleading labels calling the pseudo-dairy items "cheese products". "Calling processed-cheese ingredients real cheese is legal, because while the Food and Drug Administration regulates many food-related claims, defining terms like "low-fat" and "organic," it doesn't define other terms, including "natural" and "real." That means manufacturers can use those terms as they see fit, as long as they do so "in a manner that is truthful and not misleading," according to an FDA spokesman."

'FOOD' OR 'PRODUCTS'?

Kraft has been accused of crossing that line before. In December 2002, the FDA issued Kraft a warning letter saying some versions of Kraft Singles Pasteurized Process Cheese Food and Velveeta spread were misbranded because they were falsely represented as "cheese foods." Those items are now identified as "cheese products."

Breyers uses their ice cream commercials to stress the fact that they use all natural products. They even have a little child point to the ingredients on the side of the ice cream container. So I would be under the impression that Breyers does the same for all of their products, but that's not so. Breyers yogurt "light" is sweetened with aspartame. As is any other products that say they are sugar free. To me "sugar free" means aspartame filled!

Airborne is a wildly popular "effervescent health formula" used to ward off colds and flu. I've taken it a few times, and it does seem to work well. However, I find it disturbing that this product contains Acesulfame Potassium and Sucralose (listed in "other ingredients.") Then, a few lines below, in bold red font, it says "No Artificial Colors, Flavors or Preservatives." Seems to me that an artificial sweetener counts as an artificial flavor, no? I hope they reconsider their formula and replace the artificial sweeteners either with stevia, or at least real sugar (sucrose), because other than that, I think it is a good product.

I want to know how butter-like spreads can be recommended by the cardiologists like Smart Balance, Take Control, Benecol and etc. when the label states paritally hydrogenated soybean oil, and hydrogenated soybean oil, and claiming Zero Trans Fats.

My question is: Isn't it the hydrogenation that creates these trans fats? How can this claim on these butter-like spreads be considered heart healthy? Isn't this a deception in labeling? Please clarify, and I thank you for your passion in this medical jungle.

Smart Start Healthy Heart Cereal is the lastest heath fraud I have found. I believe kelloggs makes it and it said to be healthy for your heart. One terrible ingredient found in the cereal is hydrogenated soybean oil. I am smart enough to know that hydrogenated soybean oil is not good for your heart. Of course I always read labels and know to make better choices for breakfast. But this is misleading to average person who thinks they are doing something right for their heart.
