I'm wondering if the really tasty grapeseed mayo that health foods stores sell called Vegenaise would be high in resveratrol . They make 3 kinds but 2 of them are made with canola oil but one is made with grapeseeds and costs about $4.50 a jar and it tastes great. Don't know what levels of resveratrol it would have since it doesn't mention it on the jar .

re: Is Resveratrol the Modern-Day Fountain of Youth?

Does anyone or Dr. Mercola know how much resveratrol is in a serving of the Purple Defense product?

re: Is Resveratrol the Modern-Day Fountain of Youth?

i take the purple defense from dr. mercola. is that a source of resversatrol? it only identifies grqpe seeds not grape skins. is resveratrol in the seeds as well as the skin?
moo

re: Is Resveratrol the Modern-Day Fountain of Youth?

My parents have concord grape vines and bottle the juice each year. This year they steamed the grapes, put the juice in bottles, and processed them to seal the lids. Could this be a good source of resveratrol?

re: Is Resveratrol the Modern-Day Fountain of Youth?

On caloric restriction: The nutrients are held constant in those studies, so the animals get less calories but the same amount of nutrients as the high calorie group. That simply means the high caloric group was getting more empty calories - any surprise they were less healthy? Just eliminate the empty calories in your diet, which are most likely refined high-carbohydrate foods and perhaps refined oils. What you end up with is the final phase (Phase 4?) of the Atkins diet, where you eat animal products, nuts, seeds, plenty of vegetables, and some fruit. Because of the caloric density of fruit, making fruit a staple in your diet will defeat calorie restriction. Kids can eat plenty of fruit, but us older people can't afford the calories.

Take resveratrol for insurance.

Just my opinion.

re: Is Resveratrol the Modern-Day Fountain of Youth?

Very interested in Resveratol supplements as free radical fighters.
Most of what I read from Mercola mentions the benefits of Resveratol
but does not explain in detail the benefical chemical processes in the body that leads to Less diseases in the body and or Longer life. Is it mainly the reduction of free radical in the body or some other mechanism that delivers the benefits? Also can the benefit be measured? As a side note I am studying OPC's and they can be measured with dark field microscopy of red blood cells health and the lack of damaging items in the blood from taking OPC's. I welcome your comments.
I do not disagree in any way with this good news on reservatol, I merely would like to point out that it must be in a form the is bioavailable, for metabolic utilization.

Also dosage WILL VARY in each, or specific, individuals, with specific needs or predispositions, in specific dosages, based on their age, body weight, etc..

Additionally, dosage must be over a measured time period, corrdinated with all other caloric intake or exercise regiment (if any) that may, or may not, assist, or inhibit, effective utilization of the reservatol.

Americans love their magic silver bullets...or what a friend of mine calls the "yo-yo syndrome"...eat a quart of ice cream, and then think something can counter it without harmful, or excersion, consequences.

Common sense goes a long way in assisting on a healthy lifestyle also.

re: Is Resveratrol the Modern-Day Fountain of Youth?

Very interesting!
