I agree fluoride is very bad, since we get so much of it and the wrong kind. It is actually a trace mineral, but none of us are lacking any. Here is good info on it:

My daughter in law has suffered from nodules on her thyroid and a very underactive thyroid for about four years. Fluoride is an anti-thyroid drug given to slow down a hyperactive gland. On someone with an underperforming one, this can be perilous. On top of all that, she was given Effexor as a teen for "depression." I have lived with her for almost five years and I can tell you absolutely she is in no way depressed. She's bright and creative and is doing an amazing job of raising her three year old daughter. We have r/o filters my husband put in to filter our water supply and will not drink water from any other source. Flying on a plane from Atlanta to Phoenix posed a problem for her and she just didn't drink any water at all until she got there and drank distilled water untill she returned home. What a bother. With all the terrorism threats you can't even take your own water on the plane anymore. Ain't the world we live in grand??

I'm a dentist and I've said before that I think fluoride in drinking water is unnecessary. Research has shown that ingesting it doesn't have the beneficial effect we thought it had, but that when applied topically does have some positive effect (although not huge).

The idea that some small quantity might be ingested while I'm brushing my teeth isn't going to keep me up at night.

I've been following this site for some time and find it to be the best of its kind, but I'm concerned that it is becoming increasingly alarmist.

Human breast milk delivers only 0.004-5 parts fluoride per million of milk to the baby - 250 times LESS than considered 'safe & effective' and 'optimal' for us by authorities! Authorities who have had safety data sheets from suppliers telling them for decades that workers handling the product ought to wear full protective clothing! (Lawyers sharpen your pens and get out your calculators - and come over here to Ireland where we've legally HAD to fluoridate our waters thanks to some nifty pro-fluoride legislation enacted in the 1960's!).

And just so you know the margins we're talking about here... 1 part per million is like 1 minute in 23 months, 4 days and some hours. And 0.004-5ppm is like one quarter of a second out of that same period-!! That's the level nature wants a baby to get.

And yet Wal-Mart are still peddling bottled fluoridated water for babies and children. Please consider signing this petition asking them to stop http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/walmart/

Fluoride is listed as a poison and yet, is added to water supplies in many countries, without consultation with the public. The Australian government has gone one step further and fluoride is now listed as a nutrient in our new system of Nutrient Reference Values. It is interesting that there are more than fifty studies, including those from the prestigious Nippon Dental Laboratories, showing that fluoride does nothing to prevent tooth decay. More interesting that a former waste product has become a profitable business.

I just had a routine checkup with my doctor and he recommended that young children ingest fluoride pills in addition to fluoridated toothpaste. Unbelievable.

Give me a break, the only decent looking thing on the cadaver is the white teeth, from allegedly "safe: (NOT TRUE) fluorinated water or tooth whiting products on the market that are ALL HARMFUL.
