Oviously doctors do know how to count, but they are trained to look at drugs as the best science and the only way to treat disease. They are trained to ignore nutrional supplements as a waste of money. There average age is 56. Do you want to ask a Doctor for advice? Now that's likely a waste of your time.

I'm confused as to how Mercola.com staff became experts on the human pappiloma virus, is there an expert virologist or immunologist on staff? What are your sources? To say 100% avoidable with good eating and exercise... WHAT?

Either way, that doesn't mean that a vaccine isn't beneficial, and a good way to add additional protection in case your immune system isn't able to take it.

If it just 'clears up on its own', I don't see why people advocating the vaccine would think it so prudent. Does cervical cancer clear up on its own?

1. Parents don't have the right to deny their children medication that can save their lives. How does it conflict with privacy and informedness?

2. Unproven how? Such criticism should be more focused. All vaccines are tested beforehand under principles to determine any potential risks, along with all components of it. The only thing you'd probably accept as evidence is human testing, and such testing would be unethical (it would require people taking the vaccine, and then being injected with the virus) so using it preventatively makes more sense. This is logical with all vacines.

3. Avoiding epidemics serves all taxpayers.

4. No it doesn't. A lot of other immunizations are mandatory too.

5. I'm not sure what this means.

It's fantastic to read of the justifiable outrage. Although my daughters are grown, I continue to cringe that my state continues to have no real opt outs. We lost our religious exemption long ago and the medical exempt doesn't exist. I discovered if a doctor writes a medical exemption, he or she is HOUNDED by authorities here questioning all sorts of things about their practice, generally looking for ways to stir up trouble, etc. In other words, harrassed to the point that it's impossible to find a doctor willing to risk it. I received this information from a local orginazation working to reinstate our religious exemption a few years ago.
I continue to be appalled at what the majority of citizens put up with in this country. What's worse is the ignorance and blind acceptance of lying propaganda spewed forth as facts to this nation. Although I don't post on them, you should have seen the ignorance and hate that showed up on the AOL boards to only one topic when this atrocity hit the news AND no one was bothering to try to hide the governor's blatent connections to Merck. A mom wrote "My daughter, my choice" and one person actually wrote he or she wished they were on a firing squad to kill the mom for "refusing to protect" her daugher! Horrifying!

Cervical Cancer caused by HPV is preventable w/out the vaccine ie condoms. HPV often clears up on its own and in very few people it actually manifests into cancer.

What's next.. forcing unwed, underage mothers to get abortions? Not much different. It's our body where's the control? Last I checked this isn't Gattica.. or is it?

Is there some health risk to others if they don't take the vaccine? NO! It's not like the Measles or Mumps. Those vaccines have a clear need and purpose.

CNN calls the HPV vaccine a "stunning advance in medical science". As proof they cite the fact that 6 million women contract HPV every year and 3700 die from cervical cancer. Doing the math, we find that 99.9375% or 1 in 1600 women contracting HPV do not contract cervical cancer. The safest vaccine on the planet is far more dangerous than 1 in 1600 adverse reactions. Aspirin is almost as dangerous as cervical cancer as thousands die from aspirin poisoning every year caused by intestinal bleeding and over dosing. 20-40,000 people a year go on dialysis from Tylenol poisoning. Tylenol is 10 times more dangerous than the HPV virus. The medical establishment can't count.

The Merck lobbyist who convinced Perry about the vaccine was apparently his former Chief of Staff. Shouldn't this be considered a conflict of interest? I think he should resign. Furthermore, isn't he practicing medicine without a license? Remember that Perry was Lt. Govenor to our President, George Bush, for 8 years!!! Does that tell you anything about the man and his connections?

As US President Lyndon Baines Johnson, and wily Texas politician, was allegedly quoted as saying, "when the Poker Game Is Crooked, be ready to kick over the table, and draw, because a loaded Colt Revolver beats a Royal Flush".

I would encourage all parents in Texas to 'kick over the table', by filing a class action lawsuit against the Texas Governor (first getting a stay on the law's implementation) on invasion of privacy grounds at a minimum, and HARMFUL child endangerment also, among other possible avenues, or breaching public safety and trust, and perhaps the Governor's sworn duties to protect the public welfare.

In the interim folks, take your kids out of public schools so the law does not apply to them; home school, enroll in private schools, start your own cluster or charter schools (not taking money from the corrupt state government passing this health harmful legislation at the PROFIT motive of MERCK), enroll them in parochial or religious schools (where 1st Amendment constitutional rights trump most bogus state laws)...

One harmful and bad law signed by one person cannot thwart logic, safety, common sense, and the rule of the overwhelmingly vast majority.

What's the Governor going to do when everyone REFUSES to comply with this CROOKED and EVIL law, place his state under house arrest?

That will be interesting come reelection time.

What is the most worrisome thing about Texas mandating this vaccination is that the legislature did not approve it. The governor decided he knew what was best for everyone and decided to make it an executive order. I thought we lived in a republic not a dictatorship.
