Especially if you snore. My husband's health has steadily improved since using a CPAP machine for sleep apnea. His high blood pressure is normalizing and believe it or not his hair stopped turning gray and is regaining it's original brown color!
I was finally diagnosed with Narcolepsy after many, many years of increasing tiredness and development of the symptom called cataplexy. This was done by having a sleep study done at a Sleep Clinic.

Please don't ever think being tired is a normal feeling. It's not and your health will suffer greatly.

re: Why Skipping Sleep Harms Your Brain

Sleep is as essential to good health as is good nutrition and clean air. This article reminded me of a great article on sleep found here. It prepares me for the great awakening, to which I also look forward with much vigor.

Life's daily cycles are unique, as interesting as the changing days of the week, or as spectacular as the differing seasons of the year.

Enjoy the moments as they are presented. We live 24 hours of every day. To hate any part of any day is to deny yourself a full life.

re: Why Skipping Sleep Harms Your Brain

At least now I now the reason why it takes at least two days to recover from an unplanned night shift. My cortisol levels are to high. Very good information.

mmc88121

re: Why Skipping Sleep Harms Your Brain

This is yet another study that points out an obvious fact. Sleep is essentially the time when your body rests, repairs, and replenishes itself! Ideally, it would be best to retire shortly after the sun goes down, seeing as we are not nocturnal by nature. I have to disagree with the statement that "you are what you eat," though. You could have the best diet in the world but if you cannot digest and assimilate nutrients properly then you'll suffer regardless. Herbert Shelton was correct when he quoted, "You are not nourished by the food you
eat, but in proportion to the amount you digest and assimilate."

Our body has an amazing capacity for healing if we will just give it a chance.

re: Why Skipping Sleep Harms Your Brain

You are what you eat! So if you don't, your body essential eats itself. If you don't use it, you loose it. Your body will start to use energy stores in order to produce energy, cell metabolism, hormones, neurotransmitters, etc. One large concern when you skip meals is the over production of insulin and cortisol. Which are both catabolic or tissue breakdown hormones.
