Now it seems he has been doing something else healthy for himself without even knowing it.

He is Oneg and a universal doner so he always is getting calls from the Red Cross Blood Bank. The Red Cross would phone me when they were coming to town. I felt that if I was healthy, I could pass some of my life giving fluid to another who needed it. Now, I am older and the last time I went to a clinic, the nurse checked my blood and told me I couldn't give at this time. I asked why and she told me that I was "just under the bar" to donate. I got some blood work done at my doc's and found out that I was borderline anemic. So, now I am trying to maintain good blood stores and I don't give blood anymore. I wish I could go and return to giving blood reguarly but I'm a little apprehensive about it. I have so many friends who could donate but choose not to, a lot of them are male. It saddens me that they could share their gift with the millions who are in need of it.
