Contact lenses for example were invented by Czech inventor Otto Wichterle. Americans seen the potential future investment and so two men came to then communist Czechoslovakia, bought the patent and paid some $200,000 to the government. No surprise there that man who invented it got NADA..... Budweiser is originated in Czech Republic in a town of Cesky Budejovice (translated in German Budweis hence Budweiser) and definitely anyone who tried the original "Ceskobudejovicky Budvar" (Czech Budweiser) will agree that it surpasses the one made in the USA. Water is the key ingredient in making beer, and for that matter also a chicken soup as I found out on my own. Grandma's chicken soup was the best in the world when made in her kitchen. When she made the same soup in my house it did not taste the same....... ;-)
Also an infamous Semtex (a powerful explosive used by terrorist groups) is Czech invention.

I just thought I will add a tid-bid myself
MarikaB

re: The Origins of Google Began in Russia

Thanks for the information. I never really knew the story behind the 2 people who started google. Just that they had dropped out of college.

mmc88121

re: The Origins of Google Began in Russia

myself being an immigrant from Russia, I find this article very inspiring.
