I don't think people are actually buying prescriptions through the mail because it's safer, but rather, because it's cheaper and they can shop around for prices.

Personally, growing my own vegetables is much cheaper. Something I'm planning on doing this year to save money on medical expenses later. :D

This also happens everyday at your local hospital; pharmacy or mail supplier . I believe that the attention this is getting is more related to the fact that many people try to purchase drugs on the internet from sources outside the country because of the cheaper cost.

When we rely on drugs to fix a health problem regardless of where the drugs come from, in my opinion, there is never really a good outcome. Our bodies are self healing when given the proper diet, exercise, etc... The power that made the body, heals the body.

This is uncanny in timing to see this post!

Just last evening (2/20/07), a good friend and neighbor, showed up at my home, asking for help identifying a supposed generic version of a prescription pain killer, the LARGE national pharmacy had given them, saying, "oh, it's the same thing, only less expensive".

When I checked several empirical cross referenced sources, I had in my home library, beyond the PDR, the drug was NOT anywhere near what it should have been, in dosage, or even targeted function!!!

Would taking the misprescribed pills have harmed my neighbor? Probably not, but it would have done LITTLE, if anything, to have helped them either.

Folks, misprescriptions, as well as dumb-downed in cheap excipients (bulking component ingredients that can alter metabolic utilization), or adulterated, either BRANDED or generic, is a REAL and growing problem, among the many HARMS that lurk in drug(s) intake (let alone cross reactions between different drugs taken at the same time, or near each other).

My recommendation remains to follow preventative nutritional, exercise, and emotional training regiments suggested by Dr. Mercola on this site, for yourselves, your wallets, your family, and friends, whenever possible.

And, oh yes, as my father-in-law teases with a coined phrase; "do it immediately, if not sooner!"
