The individual churches should have a Parish Council that will include a committee to take charge of the church accounts.

When we give to the Church, we are giving to support the Priests etc . So we should not stop donating to the church but just ensure that the accounts are properly kept and publish periodically for the knowledge of the parishoners.

As Pope Paul IV has said , " The smoke of Satan has entered the Church" that's why today the church is undergoing a lot of upheavel as it is under the attack of Satan.

As Cardinal Sheen has mentioned before, the Church is under attack as Satan knows that it is the church of God.

We Catholics must not loose our focus which is on Jesus and also that Mother Mary will guide us to her son.

I think touching this topic puts Dr. Mercola beyond his website intention "take control of your health". I believe on that article but I also believe also that this is highly inappropiate. Nothing on that artcle touches any ones health concern but for the readers to stir anger and hate towards Catholic church.

I admire Dr. Mercola's pursuit for good health and informing the sleeping public about their health situation and education, but I think this time Dr. Mercola goes beyond his bounderies. It's not that I'm confining him with certain limmitations but with this article what's next Moslim's deception? Buddhist corruptions?....it's an endless discussions ...remember there are three topics that no one will be right or wrong...love, politics and religion.
FDA, CODEX ---OK

Meawhile if we can go back and look at the labels of the food we are eating....

As a lifelong Catholic I think the dangers of NOT Giving to the Catholic Church are far greater than worrying if there are theifs lurking about. I think I will continue to give and let GOD worry about those that might steal the monies intended for the good of others.

Nowhere is tithing by giving 10 percent or any percentage supported in scripture. It was only talked about in the old testament. The New Testement only talks about giving what your heart desires.

Catholic Church has to do with the scope of this web site. Might I
suggest that you stick to the main theme of health and nutrition or risk the credibility of your work. Your should not use this fine site as a political or religious sounding board.

I dont mean to state the obvious, but an individual can give to a cause (after careful research) they are passionate about WITHOUT being religious.
This exposure of fraud and embezzlement will not hurt the cash-cow churches. This isnt brand new news.
Personally, i dont believe the church needs anymore money...especially MY money.

Having been a member of the Catholic Church and an altar boy, and having a background in forensic accounting, it comes as no surprise that organizations such as the church should succumb to such immoral practices. It really is no different from other organizations, profit or non-profit. If there are no controls, the scoundrels see an opportunity.

Fortunately, I now participate in a religious organization ie. non-denominational Christian church, that believes in annual reporting to its congregation during a church service, AND opening its detailed accounting to anyone who so desires. We are stewards of God's money, property, and skills that he has blessed us with (remember the parable of the talents), therefore we must do what is right.

This is my 2 cents worth.

I am a practicing Catholic and tsake issues with many things ---titihing is one---titihing was necessary before the Catholoc Church became a conglomerate with vast holdings----I am part of the Diocese of NY--I take issue to limos and a 5th avenue residence while people are starving----The church is so materialistic---how about less ornate places of worship and more money used for the poor---I can not think of one Catholic Charatoes Agency that does not receive or seek renuumeration from the government. Also, in Putnam Cty NY, the church owns some very valuable property close to the Hudson River. Why are there so many A&P Catholics? If they would bring home non practicing Catholics they would have more $ then they know what to do with---ON LI the Bishop in the Diocese of Rockville Center had a kitchen renovation in the recotory that coust > a Million Dollars---the people donate to build parishes and yet at will the Cardinal sees fit to close them and sell the property---Pay, Pray and Obey dosen't cut it any longer----I attend weekly Mass and pray to my God---If Christ walked the world today what would he think of our church. For example, why such a large fee to obtain an annulment for example? Charging for Religious ed? ANd the fee is > if Child is receiving a sacarment

Ah, another example of a scandal in the religion industry. What would you expect from a business that collects your money and promises you something extremely valuable (eternal life in Paradise) and is not held accountable. As far as the Catholic religion is concerned, this is peanuts compared to the behavior of the Church prior to the Reformation when it owned almost all the property in Europe. When will we ever be free of superstition?

Tithing is tithing. You give 10% and don't worry about who gets it or what happens to it. Eventually it will help someone in some way if that is the intention behind the giving. We don't need to control the gift after we give it.
