I went to visit her. Coming down the hall toward her bed I heard this very painful moaning. I said to myself, I bet that's my aunt and sure enough it was. She had only a few days to live and so as to not prolong her life my understanding was that she was not eating or drinking. We went in, talked to her, touched her, and put water in her mouth. She stopped moaning and looked much better and talked to us in an awkward way.

Conclusion: She needed lots of little care. The hospital is not equipped to give frequent little care. They have to do temperatures, change bandages, etc. etc. etc. They are set up for major problems not mini help of water in the mouth every 20 minutes. It is beyond them. They are not evil uncaring caretakers. Their system is just not equipped for humane care of the dying.

So, plan ahead and die in a hospice which is equipped to handle that level of love and little care.

A bed opened up in the hospice that night and she was transferred to a hospice where she died a few days later. I asked my cousin how it went. She said it was like heaven.

PS.
I knew my aunt loved dogs. We went home and came back again to the hospital later that night and smuggled our dog into the hospital under a coat for her to pet and love. We told he that the dog wasn't suppose to be there and she had a child like conspirators gleam in her eye which was wonderful to behold. It was a enduring last memory to have of her.

re: The 30 Weirdest Ways People Have Died

Malcom Forbes, the late publisher of FORBES magazine, wrote a book many years ago "They Went That Way", on this subject, of the freaky and inexplicable, as well as harmful or unhealthy, ways, notables died...

If you are into this subject, it may be worth your consideration.

Additionally, there is indeed an educational and safety aspect to this subject; it may just prevent you, or your loves ones, from going prematurely as a result of knowing what to avoid...

re: The 30 Weirdest Ways People Have Died

It is true some people die in weird ways, but…what about the weird ways in which so many others live?
