I believe that pasteurized milk is not the greatest food for you. I also believe that raw milk is better, but only if you are willing to take the gamble that it is not contaminated. I just want to caution everyone with a story. My dog died of leptospirosis. She showed signs for ONE day, and died the next. Leptospirosis is shed in the urine or milk of an animal, and an animal may have it for up to two weeks before showing any signs or symptoms. Humans can contract it, and it is fatal in 10% of cases. For this reason I personally would not drink raw milk - or pasteurized, for that matter. I know the odds are in your favor if you do want to risk it. I am just personally not willing since I witnessed what happened to my dog. I just wanted to warn everyone since I had never heard of it myself before my dog died. No matter how healthy an animal appears, and no matter how often they are tested, they may contract lepto and it go unnoticed for awhile. And there are many different strains.

There are other alternatives to milk if you want milk on your cereal or in your coffee without going the animal route (such as rice or almond milk.) Investigate and be well!

Of course, Aspartame was a Monsatan deal too. Rummy pulled a lot of markers to get this past the FDA. Look at the pain and suffering this brought. I believe it makes women sterile, or have seriously damaged children.

These people have no values, and of course are the internal enemy of America.

When people get together on these lists, we can overcome their lobbyists
by emailing Congress by the 10s of thousands, inform them we will be voting this next election, and letting them know they can look forward to ceasing being elected officials very soon. That is how you overcome the corporations that run the politicians with money.

Then these corporations can be taken through court.

First of all, adults shouldn't be drinking milk. And children shouldn't be drinking anything other than human mother's milk. But if you insist that you just have to have milk in your diet, goat milk is superior to cow milk. Goat milk is alkiline, non-mucous forming, and easier to digest. But if you just have to have cow milk in your diet, get it unpasteurized and unhomogenized. The pasteurization process produces an artificial protein in milk that is almost impossible to digest and hangs around in the liver for years, clogging things up. Bottom line: If you don't consume milk products, this whole discussion becomes moot. glc

I agree that most people have their head in the sand. And unfortunately it is not just about health issues. This countries Govt is out of control and so are the large Corps.

Not produced in North America. I wish I could say this was amusing but my daughter (a Greenpeace activist living in Slovenia) has related to me that packaged food products there and increasingly throughout Europe Are labeled "Not produced in North America" in letters bigger than their true country of origin or their actual ingredients if true. I don't know if this has come up before but there is a scary shadowy hand of deception moving across this land . Hopefully more legislators will choke on peanuts and chocolate milk.. I might add that when I eat a few fresh organic cheese curds I don't get as strong a toxic shock effect from giving into my now dangerous childhood vice of (GM) cookies and milk.

what about raw milk for pregnant ladies? many doctors and even nurse midwives say n to raw milk. Any suggestions?

On a side note = what about vitamin E, Vitamin D, Probiotics, Alpha Lipoic Acid and Krill Oil for Pregnant women?

If the actions of Monsanto to put toxic GM materials into our food supply, pesticides and fungicides INSIDE the DNA of plants, possibly killing pests and pollinators, and toxic food additives like corn syrup into our food, you would classify them as terrorists.

Since they do these evil actions for money, we classify them as just capitalists, and possessing legal rights.

If Monsanto had an ideology to eliminate or reduce the human and animal population of the United States through damaging the food supply, then a Jack Bauer type would be hanging them from a metal chain, like the character did in this season of 24.

The question we need to ask is as follows:

Is Monsanto and her fellow corporate monsters just in it for the money, or is another motive under ths surface?

I live on a small acerage and raise my own chickens for meat and eggs, as well as raise my own goats for milk and to sell for meat. I sell my eggs and chicken to others in my area. Pretty soon, the gov't will not allow me to do this as they are trying to institute the NAIS--National Animal Identification System. I don't know if any of you are aware of this huge gov't big brother program, but if you are at all interested in buying your food locally and/or organically, you need to oppose this program! Pretty soon I will have to either buy very expensive equipment to microchip and report to the gov't the "going's on" on my small farm or stop raising animals altogether. If I simply refuse to participate, I could be reported (the mailman, meter reader, vet, etc are all mandatory reporters now) and have my animals confiscated as well as fines and jail time. Go to nonais.org for more info. If you go to the USDA website and search for NAIS, you will be utterly scared! It's a spooky big brother thing they've got going on. Oh, and my horses? No more trial rides unless I ask the gov't permission. No more 4H for my children either. Write your reps in Washington and locally! Please educate yourselves and be aware of this program! Monsanto has a history of being ruthless in their dealings with consumers as well as customers. They have brought many dangerous products to the market place. Just to name a few: PCBs, Agent Orange, Aspartame, GMOs and rBGH. If you go on the internet and do a Google search on Monsanto, you will certainly have many, many pages to read and I doubt that you will find many pages saying anything good about Monsanto. Another Google search you may want to do is: Does glyphosate cause fusarium. Glyphosate is the active ingredient in Monsanto's herbicide, Roundup.
There may be a very simple way to stop a company like this. NEVER EVER buy any product that Monsanto makes.

Hey Katy B, I guess you don't live on a farm! MANY other species drink milk if they can get it! Pigs especially will steal it if they can, but dogs, cats, chickens, and even goats will all try to steal it when we milk (by hand). The key is, RAW milk is healthy!

I grew up on a dairy farm consuming raw milk and am Type 1 diabetic because of it. The dairy farm beside us had 2 Type i diabetics. My dad had asthma and vitiligo (raw milk) my sister had vitiligo (raw milk). My brothers had asthma (raw milk). Raw milk is ONLY for baby cows up to a few weeks old and NEVER for human consumption.

We moved to a farm 35 years ago and my mom insisted on it being organic. The farmers around us all laughed at her and said that you couldnt grow anything organic or you will lose money. My mother also read Organic Gardening and Mother Earth News. I remember her reading an article from a magazine such as those on this growth hormone almost 20 years ago. The thing that made me remember it is that it said it caused the cattle to have Mastitis. This is an infection in the udder. Ive seen several of our goats that had it growing up and I remember seeing the milk full of blood and pus. Yeah pus, the white, gooey stuff you see oozing out of boils or really bad infections. It always stuck in my head that this was in commercial milk. This is another disgusting reason why milk has to be pastuerized. Growing up I always heard why organic was better, what pesticides and herbicides did to our bodies and the environment. Im sure those farmers had good intentions. Its just that their information came from the chemical companies that regularly held clinics and talks around this area. Its not that people are ignorant. Its that they are trusting. I learned this once i moved away from home. My husbands family thought it was awful I didnt take my kids to the doctor every time they had a cough or cold. They would rush to get the cold medicine, the Tylenol, the antibiotics. The more medicines the better. The didnt want to hear that cold medicines actually make colds last longer or that those antibiotics were worthless against viruses.They trusted their doctor. When the newpaper would print the articles that no child in our state could enter school without shots they really panicked because I refused to vaccinate my kids. I was told Not to eat their apples off the tree because it hadnt been sprayed. This is the way most people think. They trust their doctors, the government and what they see on commercials: if it wasnt okay they couldnt sell it
