This latest study may fill in some gaps as to why men and obesity can be such a deadly combination.
Here are my two takes from working with men with prostate cancer:

There has been research to show that men who are under extreme stress develop very low progesterone levels. As well, there are a lot of men who eat soy, drink out of plastic water bottles, use hygiene products with xenobiotics in them, etc that develop high estrogen levels. Estrogen causing cell proliferation and inflammation, when unopposed by progesterone. So, this combination has been shown to be a facilitator in prostate cancer.

How do you treat this? Well, I have found using Holistic Nutrition and Lifestyle principles (eliminating soy, plastics, etc), as well as low low low levels of bio-identical progesterone, along with what I say below, helps!

Most men with prostate issues show up with symptoms within the 1st chakra, which is the Root. The Root chakra is associate with tribal association (family), safety, security, meeting and nurturing ones needs. The Root is an important stage (0-7yrs) within our life because it is when we learn most of what we are going to be programmed with for the rest of our lives. That is unless our parents or religious tribe actually let us program ourselves, which is rare. So, you see a lot of men developing prostate cancer in their 40's and 50's. This is when the entire chakra system comes full circle in the cycle of evolution.

Men who have not developed their own internal beleifs, values and morals during there life, typically will show up with inflammation within their root. They have not developed their own beliefs and have been living their lives according to others most of the time. This is subconciously, unless one acknowledge's it. This internal struggle between self and the ego, will create inflammation.

So working with someone who wants to prevent prostate issues, will have to work on developing their own root system (foundation) to work from.

re: Obesity Underestimates a Prostate Cancer Diagnosis

While I personally do not have to worry about being diagnosed with prostate cancer. I still have a husband and a son who could. I do attempt to follow the metabolic type diet, but it can be interesting when one person in the home is a carb type and the other a protein type. However, I believe if you are eating correctly you body will take care of the parasites for you. However, additional stressors might affect what you need to eat.

Mary

re: Obesity Underestimates a Prostate Cancer Diagnosis

I totally agree with Dr. Mercola and his recommendations on preventing cancer. I would suggest two more things and that is a healthy GI track plus proper hydration(1/2 of your body weight in ounces of water a day).

Regardless if you trying to eat the best food in the world, if you have parasitic infections, food allergies or food intolerance you are not moving much forward.

I suggest to add to recomendations:

Regular water intake (dehydration=constipation=high chance of cancer)

Test for Parasites(BioHealth has a great 401H Test) and Food Intolerances
