Yay! Does this mean we aren't forced to watch those awful commercials showing a bunch of bellies with "IBS, CONSTIPATION and BLOATING" written all over them in magic marker????
Instead of quietly pulling them, I think drug manufacturers should be made to feature ads with people who have been truly hurt by these useless, dangerous drugs. Then go one further and include the families of those people who have been "sacrificed for the greater good"...you know...DEAD????

Compartmentalization is what the Big Pharma,the FDA, the Lawyer Tribe, etc., consistently tries to do, when caught red-handed harming, or killing, prescription drug users.

The Solution remains in each of our own minds, hands and wallets...do not believe, use, or purchase these harmful products...these sellers, or certifiers, or ltigators, have a long and proven history of more harm than good.

Cathy you are right . There is an arrogance in the leaders of the medical community today . They reduce us to a set of chemical reactions and in their arrogance think that by adding an artificial substance they can fix the problem. But we are much more complex than they assume an side effects always accompany these chemicals. What is truly surprising is how often we make the situation worse. Zelnorm is used to treat constipation. Who would trade constipation for a stroke.But they call it IBS market it as a miracle cure and suddenly we have a miracle drug. A member of my family was on this drug until her gastroenterologist put her on it she was doing ok with diet and the occasional milk of magnesia or mineral oil. Her doctor felt this was safer. I really don't believe he had read the studies or truly Knew the way this drug worked. It really had not been tested for long term use. He used it continually. It had not been tested in older people . To often Doctors buy into the publicity as much as patients. The system is truly fatally flawed and you really have to be responsible for your on health.

At least we are making some progress. As near as I can tell no one died from taking this medication, like they did with Vioxx. But until the Medical system stops putting bandages on broken bones we are going to have this problem. Most MD.s are not trained in how nutrition promotes health and prevents disease. And if they are it is sponsored by the USDA the originators of the food pyramid.

I think the tide is slowly turning on the big pharm's thanks to Mercola et.al. But we are preaching to the choir here. More mainstream media sources need to step up and they are, slowly, with public opinion, ie Time mag and Mercola raw milk story.
What needs to happen is a bigger draw of readers of this site, specifically the last video regarding cancer that had 80,000 hits!!!! The other articles only a couple hundred on average, some 500-1000. If we saw just 10,000 hits per article on average, now your reaching out and really turning the tide. I try everyday to get people to read something off of Mercola.com, so they can see that you don't need a knee jerk reaction pill for every little gripe. From a marketing standpoint, that is how big pharm's will slowly fade away. The government, mass media and Wall Street are fighting just as hard to keep business as usual.

Well, this is a good thing and a bad thing. At least they have the wits to take it off the market. But at the same time, I bet they are hard at work in the lab to come out with a new Zelnorm so they don't loose money on the whole deal.

My question is this though:
You see them take drugs like this, Vioxx, etc off the market because of all the unwanted side effects. But which Rx drug out there does not cause a wide array of side effects? Which drug out there has a linear affect on the body once ingested? Which drug out there only does supposibly what it is supposed to do? NONE! So why don't they recall all drugs and work on prevention.

Yes a lot of these drugs help people with psychological disorders, post surgery, with heart disease, cancer and so forth. But, most of these people end up having to go on so many other meds to counteract the side effects of all the meds. As well, if MD's and society started to focuss on prevention, in the future I feel most of these drugs would only be needed on an emergency basis.
