I have a difficulty with homeopathy. My understanding is that successive dilutions of a substance to a level low enough that a dose may not even contain a molecule of the substance, or perhaps very few, is not problematic because the water has a memory imprint of that substance. Well, if that is true, then where did the homeopath get the water from? Presuming it was not spontaneous creation, then the water will have myriad memory imprints from whence it came. Does the homeopath wave a magic wand to erase the memory imprints? I assume he/she does, and I am in the market for one of these wands. W.D.

Did you know that in the 1918 Flu Pandemic only 5 % of people treated with Homeopathy died vs 45% of people treated with allopathic medicine?

I read the comments about the better success with homeopathy and chiropracty during the 1918 flu. One has to wonder if any non-drug treatment would have been better. Not to question those two practices, but if I had been a witch doctor I may have outperformed the medical establishment in1918!

More important than any vaccine, natural treatment-whatever- is personal freedom and the right to do and be as we see fit.

If you want vaccine, go get it. If you want to take herbs, great. Choose and accept the consequences of your actions.

During my 8 1/2 years Army service I received just about every vaccine commonly and uncommonly available, including the Anthrax series. I hated it, but I'm the one that joined...
My children are not vaccinated. But as an RN, I have vaccinnated thousands of people. That is their choice, there is no shortage of information on effects/side effects readily available to any who choose to open their eyes just a little...

My husband is a Vietnam Veteran & had to dig in & live in soil contaminated by Agent Orange. It so compromised his immune system he now is a diabetic.He recieves treatment [& I use the term loosely] by the Veteran's Administration & the one & only time he let them talk him into getting a flu shot he got so sick with the flu. We have done as much as our income will allow us in eating organic & using herbs for our health. The best prevention we agree is staying away from people that have the flu or colds etc. The drug companies want you to believe they have the answer. We know they don't. Thanks to Dr. Mercola's site we have learned much about how to treat ourselves & we are able to minimize the drug use the V.A. pushes on our veterans.

Boy, i bet we see a lot of arguments in regards to that comment 'vaccines save lives' ? I dont know about that, they sure cause a lot of other problems however that lead to disease/death in my opinion. You must be doing a lot of other things like good nutrition that is really thwarting your flu.

Homeopathic doctors had great success in treating this epidemic.
For example:
In 1921, W. A. Dewey MD., published a paper in the Journal of the American Institute of Homeopathy entitled "Homeopathy in Influenza - A chorus of Fifty in Harmony". Here are some extracts:

In Philadelphia 26,795 cases of influenza treated by homeopathic physicians had a mortality rate of 1.05% compared with the conventional mortality rate of 30%. (Dean W. A. Pearson)

Dr Williams in Rhode Island reported no losses from influenza and a 2.1% loss in those that developed pneumonia. He observed that Drs using salicylates (Aspirin) as the main treatment were having a 60% mortality rate in those with pneumonia.

As a homeopath, my biggest obstacle in treating all forms of disease is the damage caused by pharmaceutical drugs, and many allopathic procedures. Dr Mercola is doing a great service in bringing attention to this fundamentally flawed so-called "system of medicine."

The flu epidemic of 1912 -1918 followed the newly formed FDA as a
result of Harvey Wiley's efforts to restrict additives to food as well as
eliminate "snake oil peddlers." The first official act of the FDA was to
allow preservatives in bread sold in stores to extend their shelf life.
Our study of epidemiological study of who died during this extended flul
suggests that those who ate bread made with preservatives shared the
same fate those citizens of Philadelphia experience over those in St.
Louis. Those who baked their own bread in towns which did not have the
earliest of "Big Box" stores seemed to have a much lower incidence of
flu. Our references have been lost and we would be interested in what
others view this information as a missing link in why a virus would be
able to infect others more effectively in certain communities which did
not segregate their contaminated fellow citizens but also did not eat
the bread

Most disease pandemics throughout human history have followed on the heels of great social upheaval. Many factors other than germs were at work - major stress and food shortages during wartime would have had an enormous impact on the immune system. Vaccines and antiviral drugs like Tamiflu are not the answer, strengthening the immune system through natural methods such as optimal nutrition (especially including antiviral fats like coconut oil), EFT and other stress busting techniques is the only way to go - should this much-hyped epidemic ever occur.

There is an interesting and factual epidemiological footnote to the 1918 flu epidemic; it did more to bring a cessation of World War I than any other single factor, because there were not enough healthy troops to send to the trench war front on either side.

Hence, WWI was summarily ended with the Allied side extracting huge reparations from the Germans, essentially bankrupting them and leading the to continuing of the grudge match and rise of Nazism and WWII.
