Well I think bottled water is a life saver at convienant stores......I mean i drink water its my beverage of choice and if im going to go to a restraunt and i know the water in that town is gross i can count on having a good tasting glass of water. I dont hear anyone gripping about coke bottles........how many of those will u chug before you think twice about the enviroment. I dont drink coke or soda beverages. I enjoy the option of having great tasting water at my convenience. I do use a filter at home to cut down on waste. I think its the most responsible way to drink water. But not every store or restraunt have filters or great tasting water. Please get off the water bottle hell train!!

I've read through all the posts but no mention of issues with distilled water
when making your own colloidal silver. I've been told that it is the only type of water that should be used for this purpose, which is logical because of the absence of other minerals and contaminants. I wonder though about some of the other issues discussed here regarding concerns with distilled. (i.e. compounds leeched during production, the structure of the water, etc.)

Water from the past was obtained from fresh sources where it spent some time in contact with the earth (rocks, mud, etc.). It seems simple minded to think we can remove all of the contents in some fashion and add back a bit of this and a bit of that to recreate the environment. We've only begun to understand the complexities of what is in our water and how it affects us.
Therefore, the next best thing is to remove the contaminants and add back the earth, like Terramin clay, with all the minerals and more.
I plan to do this when i settle on a filtration system. My most pressing issue is what is the best way to rid the water of the hormones and other pharmaceutical byproducts of which are too numerous to count?

I was wondering if Dr. Mercola has researched the Nikken water filtration system. This seems like the way to go because it is not only filtered through charcoal but also over coral rocks to make sure there is no mineral loss.

I will not do bottled water that is in plastic bottles. I cannot stand the taste. I will do glass...but, know this, glass does do its own leaching (granted, not to the extent of plastic). I used to have a water softner...I was put on a low sodium diet; so, that had to go (it decided to die at the same time so it wasn't such a big deal). I tend to have potassium levels that are too high...so, both salts that typical softners work from would not do.

Until I can afford the Nikken systems I am using a sink mounted filter. It's not the greatest; but, it does help some.

Naturally-occurring fluoride, unless in excessive amounts, does not have to be reduced/removed. To say "ANY and ALL" fluoride in water should be removed for risk of adverse ill effects is presumptuous. Find me ANY natural source of water that does not have any fluoride in it. There are none. Fluoride is an essential element in our bodies, other animals, and even plants, just as are all the other elements to a lesser or greater degree. (Tea leaves, for example, tend to have high levels of natural fluoride, yet exhibit numerous health benefits...though not necessarily due to its high fluoride content.) Other factors, such as lack of access to medical facilities, poverty/income, diet, and oral hygiene need to be taken into consideration before concluding that naturally-occurring fluoride (calcium fluoride) is indeed harmful, and, if so, in what amounts and over how long a period of time. What I would like to know, for those regions of the world with the highest levels of natural fluoride, is why some members of the region's population show symptoms of excess fluoride, while some do not. Certainly other factors are at play here. Certainly any mineral that exists in excessive amounts will create a dietary condition that is not in balance, and may require more of another (or more) particular mineral(s) to compensate for any subsequent deficits...especially if one's dietary habits are already poor. In India, where poverty is rampant, nutritional deficiencies will also be rampant. Add excessive calcium fluoride intake on top of that and you have a major health risk. Calcium fluoride levels in the Wellness Filter will only reflect levels found in the water source.

i'm happy that the bottled water industry is being exposed. there's too much energy and waste being spent to bottle water that is no better that what comes out of my tap at home, to say nothing of the litter created by disposable bottles. i use a very high quality filter that removes more contaminates that any other system, keeps a healthy pH balance and has great tasting water as a result. you can see these at www.mlbco.biz. filters are the last item under "home and garden." also see shower filters, as they are equally important as our skin absorbs the chlorine from shower water.

I really want more answers on The body's Many Cries for Water (name of a vital book by Iranian Dr. Batmanghelij).
Dr. Paul S. Bragg is the health pioneer who died at 96--of a tragic Surfing accident. He was given a few months to live at 16 due to tuberculosis, but went to Switzerland and was healed. He recommended Distilled Water. But if you check the work of Emoto on The Message From Water, you find any water source can be transformed by thoughts or prayer, and he and his daughter Patricia were major advocates of Love Prayer and Gratitude. Maybe that is the real reason he did so well with this water.

Perhaps all this relates to the Claim of Physicists that most of the mass in the universe is "dark matter." This is not merely invisible because it does not happen to be illuminated at the moment, but a part of the universe--most of it--that does NOT follow all the rules of matter that we know.

Spiritualists have always said there were other planes. Perhaps in our time the truths of these things will be both proven and scientifically clarified.

Ahh yes...distilled water is bad, and the photos by Dr. Masau Emoto proof it. The distilled water has NO core to it! I seem to remember that back in 1955 when I was a student in physics we did a project of doing exactly what Dr. Emote is doing, and yes when we photographed the distilled water it had no 'core'. However when we added unprocessed sea salt, and then took additional photos as it froze, and of the completely frozen distilled water ice crystals, lo and behold it had the same core as the 'other' water crystals!
It seems that Dr. Mercola was more than happy to jump to conclusions here. Additionally if the distillation unit used is made of good quality stainless steel, there should be NO leaching of the unit into the water, even at the temperatures used to boil the water. In the nuclear reactors, the temperatures are much higher here, that are used in the Navy, and elsewhere, contaminants leaching out of the reactor vessel are unacceptable, so a material is used for the vessel that will not leach extraneous matter/,minerals, etc.. That material is...stainless steel!
I have no fears using distilled water as I add the necessary 80+ minerals back into it, and also I do not fear the water coming from my distillation unit. Please do not fear distilled water as long as you replace the necessary minerals. Many people use distilled water as it comes out of the distillation unit with out adding minerals back into it. I do not know how they will do over a life time, but some have been doing this for a few years apparently with no ill effects. I personally prefer to add the minerals back.

I filter my water once a week and put it in 1 gallon or 3 liter empty spring water bottles #1 PETE plastic. They last for years but I use new ones every 2-3 years. I also reuse water bottles by not drinking from the bottle and contaminating it. I just use cups or a glass to drink from as they are easier to wash.

Bridestein- glad someone mentioned that some bottled water is just tap water! I think I read somewhere that the regulations for bottled water are less strict than city water. I found a good list of good bottled water along with their alkaline levels in Dr. Colbert's book The Seven Pillars of Health. The list also shows if the water is in a plastic or glass bottle. The only glass bottled water in my area is carbonated which I don't like.

A few years back, our municipal water company was considering the treatment of run-off water with an industrial reverse osmosis system. As some point, during due diligence, they rejected the ro system because the water discharged from that system would have been so clean and so devoid of minerals, that it would have destroyed the concrete run-off channels by leaching minerals and other material from the concrete.

Wonder what ro water might be doing to our "personal channel to the ocean?"
