Joey, all said and done lawyers make their money on perception, it appears to your lawyer that there is no problem with the bill and it may appear to the Congress and Senate that the wording is good but the problem with wording is it means deferent things to different people.

When FDA is given the wording they will use it as they see fit and give meaning to what they want to accomplish. Once it is law they have the upper hand and it can only be changed but expensive litigation in courts by lawyers. Giving power to the rich COMPANIES AND LOBBYIST to maintain there control. You paid a lot for a lawyer’s opinion and he means well of course, but it will not be lawyers or the Congress or Senate that will be using the law to their end. Re-read the Bills wording please before you say that the law does not give new power to the FDA. The corruption of FDA is in what power they think they have and how they can perceive legislation towards their ends or the ends of those influencing our government.

Joey things are never as they appear to different people when money is involved.

That said most of the bill is good for the American Public.

The FDA DOES interfere with the practice of medicine. It is smack dab in the middle of the control program set up BY our president (the following is in descending order):

President, ONDCP (Off of Nat'l Drug Control Policy), DOJ (Dpt of Justice)(US Atty Gen-appointed by president), FDEA (Fed Drug Enf. Admin), HHS (Dpt of Health & Human Serv), FDA (Food & Drug Admin), CSAT (Cntr for Substance Abuse Treatment), DEA (State Drug Enf Admin), NASCSA (Nat'l Asso of St Controlled Substance Authorities), Pharmacist, Physician, Patient.

THEY decide "what drug can be administered per ailment" and also "what dosage shall be allowed per patient" EVEN though NONE have ever seen the patient in question!

It is ALL done electronically and quickly. This means that a physician who sees a patient on a regular basis, can NOT prescribe more medicine when needed (such as a patient who develops a tolerance) because of the RULINGS by these departments! Believe me, I know this to be true and factually personally.

The "drug" division should be taken away from the FDA and allow it to do the job it was designed to do: Make food safe for Americans.

I believe that the job of Food and Drug is too large for one dept.; that it should be seperated AND the FOOD division that is so gung-ho about making sure that our food is safe begin KEEPING it here for American use. Otherwise, it's job should be to secure all foodstuff arriving that is to be used in the foods of American citizens. Of what use is it for them to check food leaving the country??? Let the other countries worry about what it is purchasing! I don't understand why we are allowing ANYTHING to be bought from outside our boundaries and then used commercially to be sold to us without our safety having been assured during the process!

Thumbs down on this article! All it does is try to confuse the issue. We are not interested in what the FDA has always had the power to do - the fact is, they have never taken the proposed steps because they didn't DARE! All this nonsense about what physicians can still do is poppycock! What we want is what WE can do, and if the legislation goes through, it would appear that what we can do is curl up and die.

Let;s face it, the FDA supports the Pharmaceuticals and they are no longer interested in the public welfare. In order to sell more drugs, the people have to be sick and if they have access to herbs and vitamins, they will not be as sick as if they don't, so they have to take away the means of maintaining good health.

There is also the other side of the coin. This legislation is being forced on us by the UN by virtue of a treaty signed by Bill Clinton that basically signed away our sovern power and handed it over to the UN. The UN wants to force the CODEX ALIMENTARIUS on us as it has on the rest of the world. Treaties supercede National law, so they CAN do that and apparantly they ARE doing it. Congress may have no choice but to pass this nasty legislation or probably pull out of the UN (which would be a good idea!)

Germany was the first to pass this sort of thing and in 2 years they fell from about #3 in health care in the world to #50! Similar results can be expected here if we pass this demonic legislation,

What about all the doctors out here that are not allopathic doctors? Or maybe you don't think they are docotrs. In many states Acupuncturists are primary care physicians under the law. If the FDA thinks a supplement can only be prescribed by an MD, then those of us who need "alternative" care, would also have to consult an MD for simple effective herbal remedies. Why should I consult someone which is not trained in the herbal formulas I need, and do not even believe are effective. I am one whose genetic makeup dos not fit the pharmaceutical industry's computer cell testing, and have had life threatening reactions to simple commonly used drugs. We must protect out right to choose, and tell FDA they can't handle what is already on their plate. When drugs stop killing people the FDA will have succeeded in doing their job properly. Until then, I want to maintain my right to protect my health as I see fit. You dropped the ball on this one, seriously!

Dear Dr. Mercola,
Do you feel like you have stepped into a hornet's nest?
The very essence of the FDA is power and corruption. The very nature of trying to use entire countries and world organizations to perpetuate total control of the earth's food, ie supplements, minerals, herbs, and food supplies, scares me to death! Why would they want to control us that way? Because of money and power.
I am not an expert, but you, who have been a target of the FDA on several occasions, know their tactics.
If it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, well, you know the rest of the story.
For me and I hope others, there are lots of ways to continue our lifestyles.
We must think outside the box, or outside government restraints, policies and manmade laws.
I am about to be certified in nutrition. I have chosen to learn about food preservation, fermentation and optimal ways to attain the most nutrition from my own foods. To me, the only way to insure my health and those that belong to the human race is to use historical methods to optimally benefit from locally grown foods year round.
I strongly urge people to consider this and other options.
Dr. Mercola, I absolutely respect you! I enjoy your commentary. I believe your philsophies, and acknowledge you in the healthy lifestyles industry.
Because of these reasons, I am commenting on this very important subject.

Thank you Dr. Mercola for establishing this free speech forum. I have great respect and admiration for your work in the Natrual Health arena. Only now, I question wether or not your on the take, regarding this attorney you solicited to revwiew the FDA INITIATIVE. Even though you stated this attorney is, "one of the top Washington DC lawyers that defends against FDA actions" means nothing to me. Now, in saying this doesn't necessarily mean I doubt or challenge your sincerety, or integrity by this move. However, what is does suggest to me is a degree of naivete' on your part to readily consume what is placed before you without challenge? This is uncharactaristic of the Dr. Mercola I've come to know from all your previous research data. It also suggest to me that, this could very well be classic counter intelligence ploy to to bring people back to a state of calm and complacency after a state of alarm. Why? because there is much, much, more at stake here at this very important cross road in geopolitical, and industrial evolution.

First of all, identify this attorney. Secondly, identify for us, this attorney's "in the people's defense" track record. What cases have he/she brought to sucessful resolution? Thirdly, what are this attorney's political, corporate, environmental, civil, human, and animal rights affiliations? Who is this person really?

That said, I am thus compelled to remind all that, there is no and never have been any shread of honesty, and integrity in within U.S. Government and all it's subsidiary puppet agencies. Deceit, lies, arrogence, treachery, and broken promises are all firmly embeded in the very foundation of this Government.

How much did the Feds pay you to post the article minimizing what the FDA is trying to do. The way I read it, I would have to have a Doctor's prescription to take herbs for a prostate condition. There is little difference from the words lawyer and liar, and either you have been taken in or become a disinformation agent for the other side.
