I believe that unless you were in their shoes [the young adults that were shot at Virginia Tech], you cannot say that YOU would have, or SOMEONE should have tried to stop him. They might not have been able to...none of them might have been close enough to grab the gun off of him [even while he was reloading]. As well, this is not an average daily occurrence [thank God], so they probably all went into shock and had no clues on how to react to something none of them had ever experienced before. Not only that, after the first person was shot, upon seeing this, would not yourselves be frozen with fear and at the sight of your classmates going down in the manner in which they did?

The Virginia Tech Massacre is not going to be understood by society completely, because the heart of the shooter cannot really be known.

His rambling comments in his media packet will probably be analyzed from here until the sun burns out, but all we can really determine is that he was a bit insane in the membrane.

One can put the blame on moral relativism, since this man revealed a total inability to see humanity in the people he hated, and felt justified in using them as a vent for his personal rage.

Atheist and moral relativism has spawned a group of fun filled killers like Lenin and Stalin in Russia, who instituted both atheism and genocide in Russia and conquered territorys, and Mao in China, and Pol Pot in Cambodia, and Hitler in Germany.

Statism and atheism have been a very lethal combination in about every state where it gained a grip, but countries with a too close connection between Church and state have also had nasty results, as we have seen in most Islamic radical countries.

We can blame this man's isolation from the college community who rejected his emotional weirdness and stalking behavior. However, society has a ton of nerds, oddballs, socially inept, and gameheads who do not whack out, and go postal.

At the end of the day, we just have to blame Cho himself, who gave in to his insanity, demons, or narcissism, and decided to turn his college into a live action Doom game.

Insane people, for the most part, do not kill anyone, and somehow control themselves without having to be locked up in rubber rooms. Sociopaths do not always kill anyone, but often just fit in, work at jobs, and marry and have families, and let their hair down in non-lethal ways.

Cho is at fault, and not his victims, and not society.

I think most of these violence cases are misdiagnosed manic-depressives and schizophrenics. Interesting that most of these events occur in the spring- when mania peaks in bipolars- and is exacerbated when the bipolar individual is misdiagnosed and placed on an antidepressant...

Hi am from the UK originally but now live in the USA, My personal Views on the virginia tech massacre is why carn't they learn by what we done after the dunblane incident in scotland where we have a total ban on any firearms now and just do away with guns all together.
Yes like all countries they will always be guns unfortunately, you may think by my next comment why am i not still living in the UK, i am married to a us citizen, but i know from personal experience that the everyday police in the UK do not carry Guns which as a civilian makes them more approachable in every way, not that i am saying the UK is perfect, they have there flaws too, but it astounds me now that in virginia that they are doing a raffle for everyday people to obtain a free gun when look what happened because of Guns, sorry if i offend people by my comments but i am just expressing a view thank you

   I think children who are constantly bully or shamed build a huge inventory of rage inside and when the are over loaded they vent their rage on who they see as their last antagonist.
   We will always have these types as long as bullying and shaming are permitted to exist.If there weren't guns they'd use knives, chains, explosives even their bare fists. Gun control isn't the answer.
   Teach respect and tolerance for differences. Something that seems to be in shirt supply theses days

Virtually none of the articles I read or reports on TV mentioned use of antidepressants. Those SSRIs can cause unpredictable aggressive behavior, especially if the patient in unsupervised. Now we'll have a new batch of gun laws to confound the laws we have but don't enforce.

I went back and read the discussion on the massacre and your view on antidepressants role in this.....Dr Mercola, what did people do before the invention of these drugs to treat their depression? Even better, was there much depression before these drugs existed? I'm only 48 and I never remember anyone taking ANY medication for anything when I was in high school!

I have a 13 year old who is being bullied in school. I have gone to the school about this but they have not done anything about it. My son is in therapy now and I have to see about changing his school. The problem is also with the adults. You have parents who dont teach their kids that bullying is wrong or encourage their kids to bully and you have the school who ignores it. We as parents need to teach our kids to have respect for others. Everyone complaines that children dont have respect for others but remember we are the adults raising those kids. Whos fault is it?

The Virginia Tech shooter was previously determined, by a judge, to be a danger to himself and others. So he obviously had some mental problems. His previous illegal behavior demonstrated this as well, stalking and starting a fire in his room. But what put him over the edge, and what has caused every mass shooting in recent history, is the psychotropic drugs he was taking on a daily basis. Psychotropic drugs have been involved in EVERY mass shooting I have seen on the news. There are also many shootings and killings that never appear in the mainstream press. Big Pharma is really covering this one up. Haven't heard a peep out of the news regarding the drug use, except that the "results of the drug testing won't be available" for a few weeks. We'll see if they report on it. There were many outpoints in this case, but he never would have gone so far over the edge if not for the drugs.

We No one really knows why this young person felt compelled to kill. No one but himself and God [no i do not believe God is a creation of men how completely ridiculous]. However, I read some of the blogs on this page and feel sad. Sad for those who make broad comments [uninformed and pretty much the creation of their own minds] about so-called Christians and non-Christians, which is pretty much bologny. There are good and bad people on both sides of the spectrum, but this is not what this is about. This young man obviously had serious issues, I personally believe he was just plain evil. The fact is, if anyone were packing a pistol on that campus, maybe lives could have been saved. The police always arrive after the fact, the will never be there to "save" you. If you notice, these murderors always show up where guns are not allowed, i.e., schools, churches, McDonalds, Post Office, and Office Buildings. They know there will be no one there to stop them. It's a fact. Personally, 2 years ago, I took shooting lessons, I carry a CCW, I work in a big City and the crime is rampant. If I wait for a policeman to be there at just the right moment, I'm kidding myself. I am 51 year old woman with 4 grown daughters and 2 grand-children. I will NOT allow someone to rape, or kill me, or at least they will die or be injured trying. I do not consider my self "bad" or a bad christian for this. I would be saving a life, MINE. God Bless that professor who "recognized" evil coming down the hall, and gave his own life for his students. He is the real hero, and it should be he who is given the most air time. Not that horrible person who was rewarded with just the attention he wanted. Instead of bashing christians or non-christians [which has nothing to do with this], we should be applauding his bravery, his heart, and his goodness. God Bless him and his family and those that died that day.

I have only to say that it comes down to good and evil. Regardless of your personal veiw of religion, evil does exist. People can be evil, plain and simple. No excuses. If not, then no one can be good either. I know there are good people so reason dictates that people must be able to be evil also.

video about the "cause" of the Virg Tech tragedy was a waste of time. what is his point? That there IS no cause? Or that he doesn't want to look at things like chemical poisoning or lack of real morals or direction in the lives of many young people. Whatever, I thought his making fun of it was inappropriate to say the least. It's about as funny as Nazi concentration camps were.

Be careful not to be seduced by humor. He (the funny guy) pasted in snippets saying "Rosie O'Donnell" (is that her name?) over and over - but Rosie was in the news as more important than everything else afterwards, so why wouldn't they mention her name? Alot of possibly out-of-context stuff by someone after laughs.
