Rachel's Democracy & Health News is a compilation of left wing pap from the writings of Rachel Carson who wrote "Silent Spring". This prompted the WHO to ban DDT about 40 years ago because it was supposedly affecting wildlife, but the ban caused the deaths of millions of Africans due to unabated mosquito infestations and the spreading of malaria. (Mosquito nets work, but it's like trying to provide electricity to all of California with a few windmills). DDT has recently been accepted by the WHO as safe and that there are no problems associated with it's use. Rachel Carson's left wing blatherings caused the needless deaths of millions of Africans and the bird populations are flourishing. Oh well...what's a few deaths in far off Africa mean to a group of elitist envirowhackos in North America if we can just save the life of one bird. Yes...the article was dead on Dr. Mercola; Human Ignorance is Growing. By the way...acid rain is not a problem anymore and if you believe it is, you need to do more research.

Dr. Mercola and all natural health care practitioners are to be commended for their part in improving the overall health in so many people in North America and the world! They are examples of what is needed to make a better way of life actually livable.

I would like to say that ignorance is simply lack of proper education in knowing who one is. To know oneself, it takes an understanding of things around us as well as who we are, what makes us who we are. That is, we can experience our innermost nature in its essential form of wholeness of awareness. Each person who is experiencing this unbounded state within their own awareness brings a settled, coherent style of functioning to every encounter during the day, in every action he or she performs on the outward level. The pure, orderly existence of one's own unbounded nature sets the stage for peace, brings coherence to our thoughts and really excellent intelligence to our plans. Then people will be drawn to our demeanor since we are an example of what we want to create: a better situation for the way things are going on earth, which begins with our own inner reality. This is education. Knowledge is the basis of action. Actions speak louder than words, but if they are based on the truly unbounded and unlimited orderly field of pure intelligence, they can be truly effective.

There is no substitute to believing someone who claims to know what the truth is if you have no way of checking whether such a person is telling the truth. What we need to clean up the planet of liars, sociopaths and greedy people is to build truth machines, or lidek, that reliably detects liars even if you're asking how are they. I have read a frightening account of dumb people by the billions. I forget the author, but the story, ah, I loved it and it scared the hell out of me. The Marching Morons is exactly what the consumer-oriented society would ended up like, and this is a danger that is becoming reality within a few years. What we're seeing today is just the tip of the iceberg. It's just going to get worse.
The only solution to stopping evil in various, banal, forms is to create and build the Truth Machines that would do away with all these lies that claims junk foods is healthy. No wonder the low-intelligence people have these health problems. I doubt if they really know who to trust. We're genetically predisposed to trust the seeming-trust-worthy fellow, even if he's a sociopath smooth talker. Such people are consumate manipulators and I am wondering if the rich people are these types?

Sure, it took awhile to get going, but I read it flat out. It's written from the perspective from the future, looking back to the past. I find it amazing. I wondered if there is a guy or girl who fits the hero of the story? I really hoped so. I really do. Because if there is no one actually making the truth machine becoming reality... then I foresee no hope for us, because of the sociopaths of religious/corporations/political insanity, we're actually extincting this planet, and ourselves along with it. It may not be a while, but it will happen. Sorry.

Daniel, I don't EVEN believe you are saying this. I was a smoker for 31 yrs. until I was diagnosed with Emphysema in 1997. I quit that day!! Never had another one. I got out a picture of my Granddaughter, and a half a pack of cigs, and sat there, and did some soul searching. After about a half hour, I put the cigs in the trash, and it has been 10 years for me. I was never into health until I quit. Been 10 years, no meds, no oxygen tanks, and I go hiking, walking, swimming. In other words, I turned into a health nut, but not before. It made no sense to. They say it's like putting your mouth over the tail pipe of your car!! I watched my father die of Emphysema, it's not pleasant. Anyone who thinks smoking is good for you is in denial!! And I also would like to say "WHATEVER WHATEVER you think they are, they are not worth dying for! And it's one of the greatest gifts you can give to yourself is to quit. But I do feel sorry for those who are just too weak (or are in denial) to quit.

The internal complexity of natural systems, the myriad ways they interact with each other, and the often harmful consequences of messing with them should be more than ample evidence of a perfectly planned creation by an omniscient Creator. Those who think that all we see around us just came about by time and chance are willfully ignorant of the facts.

Totally agree - and this only touches on the physical stuff. We know very little about the energy systems of the universe, Earth and its occupants. Once that aspect is understood, then we will be able to really get to grips with this healing business - but if everyone knows that there will be no healing needed. Then what will the pharmaceutical companies do?

Maybe human ignorance is increasing due to the effects of all those neurotoxic chemicals!

What I don't understand is: why do people think that they can live in a toxic environment and not be affected by toxins? Our waters, air and earth are saturated with heavy metals and toxic chemicals. We pour them into our environment all day long, every day, every year. Animal species are disappearing or mutating. Animal and human diseases have increased exponentially. The greatest human ignorance is the following (my opinion):

1) Americans ignorant of the U.S. Constitution, and how human rights are inalienable and are not given to us by the government, and why government's powers and size should be severely restricted.

2) Ignorance of economics - which is the science of human decision-making in a climate of limited resource. The discipline is modern, but it applies to all human societies and throughout mankind's history to explain the rationality of our choices.
Most opinions on capitalism I read betray complete ignorance of economics.

3) Statistics - everything in life is a distributed phenomena. Very little is deterministic, and when looked at closely enough becomes distributed anyway. One can gain little perspective of what goes on around us, results of studies, etc., without at least an instinctive undertanding of statistics.

All three of these should be taught appropriately rigorously in high school.

Ever wonder what those space stations are for? Probably the CEOs of Big Pharma and Big Oil can retreat there when the getting's still good. I am working on a novel about this.

Anyone who advocates space travel instead of trying to make this world the garden it was meant to be is just running away from the problem. This planet is sacred. It is probably alone. If we can't live in harmony on this precious, life-giving rock, how are we going to live in harmony on a little space station? We'd start wars just for air and breathing space!

Brother, you're not just whistling Dixie! I'm apoplectic at the moment after seeing the lead story on the front page of today's local paper. It says that they're going to fluoridate all the water in the county! I'd just like to bash all of their heads together. (I know, I know - I'm just venting)
The worst part is that when you try to educate people, they just nod their heads and either shrug or sidle away.
I had already stopped drinking town water years ago because of the old, rotten pipes and chlorine, and in fact, I carry water from home with me every where I go, but this will effect thousands of people.
The other stupid story I read today said that dentists are concerned about the number of cavities in children under five, and they say it is because so many parents are giving their children bottled water instead of fluoridated tap water! What?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I can hear the spin-meisters now, or their ad agencies, or their war/damage control rooms, at Big Pharma, Big Food, Big Soda, Big Tobacco, Big Agribusiness, now attempting to figure out how to ignore new exposure they cannot control with: the growing followers of www.mercola.com

No doubt they will ignore us - until they lose sales.

Then they will denounce and attack - and they will also FAIL.

Finally, they will be discredited, lose, with TRUTH & BETTER

If each and every person takes control of their own health outcomes, you deny these for profit entities mentioned, the 'means' to harm with their revenue, through distorted or manipulated information.

Frankly it comes down to this, overweight people cannot stand the smell of cigarette smoke, Hitler banned smoking in public. Franco and Musollini were also fond of this notion. Nazi anti-tobacco propaganda would have you believe that smoking cigarettes caused genetic damage, and most people actually believe this today : Though the worlds oldest living were all smokers, we believe that they just had superior genetics... Our Republican and Democratic dictators did much to find out just how Hitler became so popular, ban the cultivation of the most desirable herbs on the planet...cannabis/tobacco. Those duly blinded by the lack of these valuable nutrients will believe fox news wholeheartedly. In the 1950's every person was a smoker; obesity was found in low levels and only among the African-American population (already enslaved). To enslave the Euro-American population, the food pyramid was developed, letting everyone know it is necessary to overconsume. Overconsuming led to obesity among whites and overweight white people are offended by cigarette smoke.
The Rastafarians say, "The more man smoke, the more babylon fall." Hitler was actually the first to initiate public smoking bans in our modern era.

As CRM states...it's not only the "Dumbing Down of America" but also of the entire World. Unfortunately a huge part of it is being executed by this country's corporate greed. Many foreign countries model themselves after us. This can be seen for instance by how many fast food restaurants pop up even in places like Peru'.

While we in the USA really should be paying more attention, I have noticed in my travels over the last year corporations based here are doing the same, if not worse, overseas...aided by governments and people's desires for better/more than what they currently have. I have also noted foreign companies being even more ignorant than our own when it comes to the abuse of resources as they trundle along doing "same-old, same-old."

It is a world-wide epidemic, not an "American" problem. I think we need a wider focus while taking more local action.
