In casual chat mode, he easily sums up the most central, the most important, and the most fundamental health issues in the world today. He simplifies things for the layman, and motivates us to take charge of our own health. The greedy mega-rich drug industries, who all put profits before people, better watch out if people start looking after themselves, and start taking control of their own health!

re: Never Too Late to Take Control of Your Health

Witch doctor--you said too bad Happy Cow Creamery was in South Carolina. Unfortunately it's absolutely ridiculous for people to start aging when they do. My grandparents are both ready to die and they're only 75! We need to take out health into our own hands!!!!! However, what are we to do when there are people out there trying to take away our options and our rights?!

I have opted to see a midwife to help me with some hormonal imbalances, and to eventually deliver my baby (when I get pregnant). I took a ton of time to research and convince my husband this was the right road to take. I changed my insurance so I could see this midwife. She knew what she was talking about. She knew where to look... and now, the hospital across the street from her birthing center is trying to close her down!

Does anyone have any suggestions. I can't seem to find anyone else as gifted as she is...There are many women trying to do something to raise support, has anyone else experienced something like this? Is there a way to post something here?

Here's more information:
www.thewholewomaninc.com
http://www.venturacountystar.com/news/2007/may/12/midwife-disputes-health-allegations/

I am outraged! Too many doctors and hospitals are trying to make it harder for us to make our own decisions about our health!

re: Never Too Late to Take Control of Your Health

The elaborate purificatory processes (somewhat in the same direction as rational therapy), plus physical/mental prophylaxis, plus Nature cure, plus dietetics, plus control of the autonomous nervous system, plus harnessing & control of the bio-energy -- are a few of the sample techniques that are a part of hatha yoga towards the end of avoiding old age & death.

I will reiterate once again that hatha yoga developed by the hatha yogins much later than the time when yoga was synthesized is very scientific. It is the only means to move on to the higher mental processes of meditation, etc.

I do not think this is available in the US but if you can order a couple of books - you can judge for yourself whether this is all hocus pocus or the truth.

I have just begun the journey with dietetics - for example - I do not consume any sugar, salt, oil or spices.

It is amazing what good food and good life style can do. You do have to alter your life style but If you exericise, eat right, drink right, sleep right and breath right it will do wonders for your health.

re: Never Too Late to Take Control of Your Health

What like about Dr. Mercola is that he offers concrete means for accomplishing many of the more visionary goals, Of course the vision is often food for the soul so to speak. Even better are hard core statistics such as follows:

Plan to Stick Around

Most of you (again I'm using the plural form of the word) are likely to be around to see the Singularity. The expanding human life span is another one of those exponential trends. In the eighteenth century, we added a few days every year to human longevity; during the nineteenth century we added a couple of weeks each year; and now we're adding almost a half a year every year. With the revolutions in genomics, proteomics, rational drug design, therapeutic cloning of our own organs and tissues, and related developments in bio-information sciences, we will be adding more than a year every year within ten years. So take care of yourself the old fashioned way for just a little while longer, and you may actually get to experience the next fundamental paradigm shift in our destiny.
