I found a good use for soybeans from an unexpected source: A CBS News report about an auto show last month in Philadelphia displaying a remarkable-looking car running on soybean bio-diesel fuel. Even more awesome, the car that goes from zero to 60 mph in 4 seconds and gets more than 50 miles a gallon was built by five inner-city high school students.
These students -- some of them a problem once upon a time in the classroom -- along with some friends built the car over the course of a year as an after-school project.
Their shop teacher had it right when asked why automakers haven't stepped up to build more fuel-efficient cars: The greed of the major oil companies, only equaled by the mega drug companies.
