This year, the United States is now spending $2.2 trillion for “health care,” or more than 16 percent of the nation's gross domestic product annually. This CBS news segment shows the Pentagon can’t get track of 25 percent of the money it spends, or $2.3 trillion this year, which exceeds what America spends on “health care.”

Folks, that's about $8,000 for every man, woman and child living in America. And, defense spending increased after 9/11 despite an admission by Pentagon auditors that they can't account for 25 percent of what it spends.

By the way, government actuaries predict health care spending is on track to increase nearly a third by 2011 to nearly $3 billion, a disaster that can be averted by taking better responsibility for your own health.
