Before you consider any of the growing number of studies that tout the dubious health benefits of consuming alcohol, I'd recommend watching this short video about the effect it has on monkeys living in the Caribbean island of St. Kitts.
Brought to the island three centuries ago, along with slaves by traders from West Africa, escaped monkeys developed a taste for alcohol by consuming fermented sugar cane left in the fields.
Their descendents satisfy their taste today by raiding surfside bars and stealing drinks left behind by tourists. As you watch this video, you'll see how consuming alcohol does nothing to improve the health of monkeys, even for those who drink moderate amounts of it.
Just a reminder, the alcohol contained in beer, wine and liquor is a neurotoxin that can poison your brain and seriously harm your hormonal balance too.
