The FDA Has Blood on its Hands

Congressman Ron Paul (R-Texas) says, “enough is enough,” to the Big Pharma Bullies running the FDA. He has introduced bill H.R. 2117 (the Health Freedom Protection Act) into the House of Representatives, which would effectively stop the FDA from censoring truthful claims about the health benefits of dietary supplements.

He wants to put an end to the federal bureaucrats’ meddling with your right to choose healthy alternatives over harmful and deadly patent drugs, and believes Americans should not be prevented form learning about simple ways to improve their health.

This bill puts the burden of proof on the FDA/FTC when it comes to proving that a label or advertisement is false and misleading. As it stands now, the manufacturer has to satisfy an unobtainable standard of proof—as was the case with the American cherry growers a few years ago. The FDA went on a witch-hunt after the growers used evidence from studies funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, to state that cherries have anti-inflammatory properties.

The FDA ruled that the cherry growers could not use that evidence to make these claims. Instead, the FDA approved another dangerous anti-inflammatory drug that went on to take the lives of some 20,000 Americans … Clearly, the FDA does not object to the spilling of blood in the course of maintaining the pharmaceutical status quo.

Big Pharma has the FDA firmly in pocket, and censoring vital information—like the fact that eating 20 cherries has the same effect as popping aspirin or a Cox-2 inhibiting drug—is their only way to stay in business! Perhaps bill H.R. 2117 can get enough traction to stick if enough of us stand firmly behind it, pushing at the rear.

Dr. Mercola's Comment:

The multi-national drug cartel has cleverly manipulated and controlled the FDA to maximally benefit their bottom line while virtually ignoring the safety of the American public.

Over 80 percent of the FDA's resources are geared toward the approval of new drugs, and only 20 percent for all the rest. Only 5 percent goes to drug safety.

As if that wasn't bad enough, any company that sells supplements, including yours truly, is handcuffed from telling you the truth about supplements because it would make a claim that the FDA did not approve.

Ostensibly this is to "protect" the public, but the reality is that it protects the bottom line of the drug companies and prevents the public from having access to information that could save their lives.

Gary Null has done an excellent job on researching just how extensive this deception is. His book, Death By Medicine, shows how over 2,000 people die every day in the United States from this fatally flawed model.

Fortunately, there is ONE politician who is seeking to put an end to the nonsense.

U.S. presidential candidate, congressman Ron Paul (R-Texas) says, "enough is enough," to the Big Pharma Bullies running the FDA. He wants to put an end to the federal bureaucrats' meddling with your right to choose healthy alternatives over harmful and deadly patent drugs, and believes Americans should not be prevented from learning about simple ways to improve their health.

At the same time the FDA went on a witch-hunt against cherry growers for citing evidence that cherries have anti-inflammatory properties, the FDA approved dangerous anti-inflammatory drugs that went on to take the lives of some 20,000 Americans ... Clearly, the FDA does not object to the spilling of blood in the course of maintaining the pharmaceutical status quo.

Big Pharma has the FDA firmly in pocket, and censoring vital information -- like the fact that eating 20 cherries has the same effect as popping aspirin or a Cox-2 inhibiting drug -- is their only way to stay in business! Perhaps bill H.R. 2117 can get enough traction to stick if enough of us stand firmly behind it, pushing at the rear.

If every body thinks that nothing is going to change then they do not do anything about it and things remain the same.  Why not email or write your represntative and senator and tell them you want this bill to pass.  Our local representative stated he gets very few letters from his constituent, it is probably the same on the Federal level.  If everyone in the US wrote their representatives we will make a difference.

You're absolutely right Mary.

If the FDA is held responsible for proving that a product's reasonable health claims are misleading, there's a high possibility that natural treatments would become more and more accepted by doctors, (many of whom hold the commandments of the FDA closer to their hearts than the Commandments of the Bible). Maybe young girls who suffer from hormone imbalances as I did, wouldn't be prescribed artificial, chemically produced hormones because their doctors were told by the FDA it's the only true treatment; Only to discover, years later that these same girls are incapable of carrying a child. Instead, maybe the natural alternatives which have been suppressed by the FDA might have a fighting chance at proving themselves to the general public.

If you're a regular at Mercola.com then you have access to information that the general public should know and in my opinion, the FDA is the main reason why these things aren't common knowledge.

It doesn't take long.  Just tell you Representative that you support HR 2117 and that you'd like it passed.  Go to http://www.house.gov/writerep/.  Enter your state and zip code and it will tell you who your Representative is.  Then click on their web site link and look for a way to send them an email.

It's time.  We need to either do our part or shut up and accept what we have allowed.

PKP, I just did this. Thank you so much for providing the link, of which I was not previously aware. For those of you reading this, please do it! It is "too" easy!!!!!!! Here is all I said:

Dear Sir,

I am in full support of Ron Paul's bill, H.R.2117. I find it very difficult to support my health and that of my family, given the current state of our food production and the regulation of the FDA which suppresses holistic claims that are nature supported and low cost.

I cannot, as a fully intelligent, independent adult, be depended upon to choose whether or not my milk is pasteurized, my produce is sprayed, or my meat is injected. Please help us move in the right direction here in North Carolina by supporting this bill.

Sincerely,

Shelly Dixon Moran

In my quest for health the last 7 years I have not done much outside of myself to promote what I believe in to others but I have made a commitment more recently to become more outspoken and look for opportunities to do so.  I just emailed my representative and signed the petition.  Thanks Dr. Mercola, MMC88121, PKP, Jeremey - for presenting me with the opportunity to make a difference.

See my post on Hinchey's new bill below.  Good one just introduced to begin to make the FDA accountable.  BTW, the bill number in my post is correct, the one on his site is NOT!  I checked with an aide to make sure it is correct.

I hope some of you are taking action to support this bill!! It looks like maybe only a measly 4 people have.. only ranked at +4.

If your not doing anything then at least give, not even, 2 minutes of your time to let your senators know that you want them to support this bill. One person can make a difference!

Unfortunately, Jeremy, Rima Laibow is the head of a controlled opposition group.  She is closely connected to Lawrence Rockefeller, of the same family that started the Pharma cartel back in 1897, via their "alien abductee" treatment groups across the Soviet Union.  Her husband, Maj. Gen. Albert N. Stubblebine (Ret.) is from Army Intel, is working on project Aegis for Homeland Security, and is featured in a book called "The Men Who Stare at Goats".  He reportedly is attempting to learn how to walk through walls.    Rima Laibow diverted the attention of her huge following to the FDA's CAM Guidance, which was NOT LAW, and which could not become law, while the Senate rammed through S. 1082, which is a REAL threat to DSHEA (See attorney Jonathon Emord/ Byron Richards/ John Hammell, and many more real experts, who all publicly nailed Rima for that nasty act!).  Rima has espoused the idea of influencing the US Codex delegates to vote at Codex meetings as the way to stop Codex, but in fact we have NO leverage against appointed bureaucrats, no matter which country we come from.  And due to the large number of countries involved(173 PLUS the EU), NO nation retains its sovereignty because it only has ONE VOTE at the table.
Jeremy, you seem to be a dedicated health freedom advocate.  If so, please do yourself, and all your contacts, the favor of separating your loyalties away from controlled opposition groups which are being funded to divert real activists away from the real issues.
Deal instead with John Hammell (www.nocodexgenocide.com ), Byron Richards (www.truthinwellness.com and his articles at www.newswithviews.com ), the National Health Federation (www.thenhf.com), for the real truth!

Going to do some checking on Ron Paul. Appears to be an interesting fellow. Probably get rivited for this, but here goes--But, the facts will stay the same. If he wins, what can he do by himself. The past has proved no one person can make a big change. It will take enough people to support him to make that big change. If 50,000,000 people vote for him and he wins, then 50,000,000 will have to stay activly involved in the issues to change them. All of our other reps are in the same boat reguardless of what is happening now. It is our responsibility, our obligation and our duty to keep an eye on the ones we vote in office. We the people are responsible for what our reps are doing, after all, we voted them in office. If my memory serves me right, doesn't the laws of representation state that we the people are in controll more than the ones that we put in public office. (Remember the govenor issue in California) I fully agree with mmc88121. I am just now becoming active on some issues. Most others opinions when I bring up subjects with are--We can't do anything about it. Well, one can't, but, what if 50,000,000 joined in. Our reps wouldn't have any choice but to go-with-the-flow. On the other hand, their job is to support the majority of the people--even if the majority is JUST ONE at that time!

I have been to meetings where hot, boiling issues were brought up before the meeting started. After the meeting, the ones that were hot over the issues asked-WHAT HAPPENED? The answer, nothing,YOU WASN'T THERE TO BRING UP THE ISSUE. Mad-mad-mad they went. Need I say more!

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world... Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has!” - Margaret Mead

THAT'S RIGHT

Here at Mercola.com we are changing the world!

I believe right now we are comming to the end of stage two of the truth.. once we hit stage 3 and it becomes completely obvious it will be effortless!

Did we have to keep preaching that the earth was round once it was fact? Maybe, but not for long, just enough to educate the people..

Roqway, I assume "rivited" means criticized (?) Why would you be criticized for what you said. I cannot imagine someone disagreeing with it.

Did anyone ever think organic food would EVER be sold in nat'l chain supermarkets?  Things do change, but it takes a long time.  Yes, we are the change and they want you to say 'what's the use' instead?  I know someone that used to work for a senator, and that's exactly what they hope for.  No one should ever give up, Nader didn't.  And he made change after change in the auto industry.  Took time, but he did it.

Jeremy, I think Copernicus was put to death for saying the world was round, wasn't he?  And Galileo for saying the Earth wasn't the center of the universe?

Hopefully our time is more civilized and today's paradigm shifters are not under such danger!

Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote a lot about the "majority of one."  If we are in the right, even if we are only a few people, we are the majority because we hold to the Truth, and that's what counts.

Look folks what does the FDA, FTC and Pharmacies have in common?  Their all in it for the ($$$) money!  Physicians really don't know how to cure the ailments, they just experiment drugs on people.  If a type of drug doesn't work, they'll try another one and so on.  Even on TV, they advertise DRUGS!  If you can't get it from your doctor go to another one.
Where as some certain supplements have cured health problems!  And by using dietary supplements you'd be taking money away from the FDA and etc.

Now let's get real for a moment:
When God created this planet we live on many, many years ago, He didn't put all these trees, weeds and flowers on it for nothing!  He put them on here for us to use to if we had heath issues to deal with and to cure them naturally.  But the FDA doesn't want you to know that.  But as I speak there are some Physicians in this country that are turning to dietary supplements for their patients, because they themselves have seen that drugs aren't the answer.
Please, the general public needs to be aware of this, so pass it along.
Dietary supplements are better for your health than drugs!

Write, email and/or phone your Representative and Senator and tell them to pass this bill.

Thank you,
JA
