First McDonald's Commercial -- With a Creepy Ronald McDonald

Even though I don’t advocate eating the food at McDonald’s, I couldn’t resist sharing their first TV commercial -- complete with a quite creepy Ronald McDonald.

And for more McDonald’s lore, check out this fascinating history of the McDonald’s French fry -- easily one of the worst foods you could possibly eat!

Really took me back when the food was great.  It has been about 20 years since I ate at McDonalds, and glad of it.  Wasn't the same.  Tasted funny.  I guess they were serving rat.

Actually they were serving worms. Never had the same taste when it was reaveled and they had to quit. The worms were probably healthy for us.

Even though I have not eaten McYuk for about 30 years ( I didnt like the taste) that advertisement would not helped change that. If I want to buy a hamburger give me one from a "greasey-spoon" any day. I do cook them at home now and then.
The clown Ronald has helped to condition kids the world over to answer  "What (or where) do you want to eat?" and my asnwer to that is not to ask just take them to somewhere I know that is a bit healthier. If they dont like what is served they go hungry. It only took a couple of missed meals for them to learn.

Note the comment about "milk shakes" in the commercial, back in the 60's when the McD's product really had dairy in it, the burgers were "100% pure beef" and the fries were sliced in front of you from real potatoes.

Read Ray Kroc's GRINDING IT OUT if you want more insights into what the franchising business was back then, versus the chemistry and junk food offered on most fast/junk menu's now.

About 20 years ago my neighbour had a cattle liner and hauled cattle for McDonalds.  He told me that the cattle he hauled were either sick or dead.  My nephew worked at a McDonalds about a year ago and said they can still say that it is 100% beef because they buy their meat product from a company called "100% Beef".  He also confirmed that the McDonalds truck going to the auction mart was still picking up sick or dead animals.  Who wants to go McDonalds now?

Hi PPar, that is exactly what I meant.  How long had it been dead, before it was butchered?  That is my point, nitro, the longer something dead has been laying about, only the butcher knows the condition of the body when it comes in.  My friend who works at a funeral home said that if a body dies outside, it bloats to 3 times its size.  Would you really like beef that way?
