According to a new study, a daily glass of pomegranate juice could help defeat male impotence.
53 men suffering from mild to moderate impotence drank a daily dose of eight fluid ounces of pomegranate juice for one month, then switched to another fruit juice. 47 percent of volunteers reported improvement after drinking the pomegranate juice. A smaller number reported improvement with the other fruit juice, which may be due to the placebo effect.
Pomegranate juice is rich in antioxidants that raise levels of nitric oxide, a chemical that "relaxes" blood vessel walls and allows more blood into the genitals. The study suggests that pomegranate juice could be a drug-free alternative to Viagra.
